This was our first cruise and will NOT be our last. We cruised for our Honeymoon during Spring Break month and even though there were said to be over 1,000 kids on the ship it did not seem like it. There is so much for them to do and keep them busy.
Embarkation, was good kind of like airport security it looked like a mad house, but it actually went rather fast. We took on our own sodas and had them checked to make sure there was no alcohol, but honestly there is so much going on they would not of noticed if we slipped by. We got checked in got our sail and sign card and picture taken within 15 min. It goes fast and they are constantly keeping you moving. Once on board it is kind of over whelming at first not many are sure where to go, so we got a drink and had a seat. About 1:30 our rooms were ready.
The ship is amazing and has a lot to offer. We were not sure where to begin. The staff was great so friendly and helpful. We never had an encounter with a rude staff member. The ship is kept very clean for the most part considering there were about 3,600 people on board along with 1,000 kids. My main complaint would be the first formal diner night. A Lot of people were confused as to where the lines where to go in and what line was for photos. I think they need staff there to help with all that because that was a MESS! For the most part the wait staff was great we did have a night a two when they seemed rather slower. We did the anytime dinning which was nice since we got hungry at different times each night also it is easy to lose track of time with so much going on. Oh and the chocolated covered strawberries and the coffe shop are AMAZING! We made about 3 trips to get those!
The cruise director James was a very nice and funny guy, he did a GREAT job hosting different things and interacting with us on board. The shows for the most part were great, we went to the Punchliner every night it was open for the adults only shows. Cowboy Bill was definitely our favorite, Just June was funny too, although kind of creepy. The other two were ok, but I can not recall there names.
We had a great time at every port. Although in the Caymens our excursion started late putting us behind on being able to explore more. We booked a hour long excursion so we would have more time to look around. We booked our excursion at the desk on deck 3 the girl doing the booking did not seem to know much about the different excursions which was kind of a downer, although they do show all they offer on the TV in your room we wanted more detail. Another thing is our excursion wasn't till 10:45 we docked at 9:00 so lost nearly two hours wasted on ship, we were not aware that you could just get off with the people that did not have an excursion booked or else we would of done that. Now Jamaica I would highly recommend booking an excursion there if you only want to do one on your trip. We did the Hop On Hop Off bus for $15 per person it took you to 4 different places as many times as you wanted which was nice. We looked around the "hip strip" and that was kind of scary for the fact that EVRYONE was trying to get you in there shop, also my husband and another couple we were with got offered weed constantly. We had a drink at Margarita-ville neat little place, and went to the shops at RoseHall.
On the last night there was a medical emergency which we were told could not wait till we arrived in port, I feel the staff and Coast Guard did a great job. They stopped the ship and allowed Coast Guard to air lift off the passenger. Overall we had a great trip and are excited to go again next year, although after 7 days on the Magic, we will be going on a different ship to explore it. I am thinking the SUNSHIE!
Oh and it isn't really advertised, but be sure to attend the going away party for the last night it only lasted about a hour, but they do give away FREE alcoholic drinks, which were GREAT, and they keep them coming as soon as mine was empty they were handing me more!
