Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Great Weekend Getaway/Birthday Weekend!
Flew in day of cruise. Once landed at the airport waited about 1 hour for the RCI purchased transfer to the port. (Next time we will get private transfers or a rental car). Ride was about 40 minutes to the port. We got off the bus and went through security, right to check in thru the Crown & Anchor line...very fast! There was a photographer taking pics as we got on the ship...then through the gangway straight to the drink table!

We went to our room to put on our swimsuits and OH MY GOSH IT WAS SMALL! This was my 10th cruise and definitely the smallest room i have had. But it did its job since there were only 2 of us and we were in the room very little. The bedding was so comfortable...wish i could have taken it home with me! One other thing about the room i must mention is that there is NO safe. That kind of bothered us...but at the end of the cruise all of our belonging were there. Jennifer was our room steward and she was great! Very attentive and helpful. Always greeted us by name...not sure how they can remember so many names.

Overall the ship is smaller and older than the mega ships...but well maintained and provided plenty of space for the number of people on board. Common areas were clean, some wear and tear here and there but nothing major. Casino was typical. Shows and lounges were nice. Bar service throughout the cruise was good. Windjammer is where we ate 90% of our meals. Food was good, service was good, food did not vary from day to day. I have to note that i did eat something that did not agree with my belly at one point...but once i got it up i was fine. We ate at the main dinnering room once. Food was very good but service was a little lacking. There was also one midnight buffet that was hordevers and desserts. Fitness center was small and had older equipment....but i understand most people do not use it one short cruises. Pool area was lots of fun...a big party with coordinated activities throughout the week.

We only got one port stop due to bad weather on our day scheduled for Coco Cay. Service getting on and off the ship was quick and easy. At Nassau we spent the day at Hilton with a prepurchased day pass. Went back to the ship to eat, and then went back our to shop!

We had a great time! There were lots of other couples, groups of friends, corporate groups and even bachelorette parties. I did see a few families with children...but i have to say it wouldnt be a cruise i would recommend for 'family fun' with kids.
