We have taking many cruises but this was out first with Carnival. We have always been somewhat reluctant due to book with Carnival due to the "Party Ship" reputation. We were pleasantly surprised, not at all what we expected, it is one of the cleanest, friendliest ships I have ever been on. Embarkation was very quick and efficient, we were on the ship and on our way to the room by 1pm. The ship is older but is well maintained. We had an aft balcony, which we loved. The cabin has a good layout, plenty of storage and a good sized bathroom. I can't say enough about the crew, they were very friendly and more than accommodating with any request. The shows were pretty good, we really enjoyed the comedians, they were several different shows throughout the trip. Casino is small but has plenty of slots and tables, we are not big gamblers but every time we went we were able to find a spot without being overcrowded. The pool areas were nice, not as crowded as other ships we've been on. There are buffets and serving stations by the pools so you can get lunch and drinks without leaving the area, very convenient. The food on this trip was hit or miss. We had great meals in the dining room, no complains. The buffet was not great and for some reason was always lined up. Salads and cold food was OK, there were very few hot selections and what was there was not good. We ended up going to the deli for sandwiches most days, they were very excellent. Burgers and pizza are also available but were OK at best. Disembarking was relatively easy, waited in the theatre and were off the ship within an hour. We would definitely travel with Carnival again, everyone we talked with really enjoyed the cruise and previous cruises they had been on. By far the most friendly, laid back cruise vacation we've been on.

Cabin review:

Great aft balcony room, unlike some of the other ships we've been on this one looks almost completely down to the water. The room has a good layout, plently of storage, three closets and multiple drawers. Locations is great on this ship, one floor down from the buffet and pool, dining room is several floor below.

Port and Shore Excursions

Barbados is one of my favorite places to visit, been there many times and have done all of the excursions and loved them. We decided to book a private tour in order to get out an see the island. We booked online with Edwin Lovell and we would highly recommend him. Very reasonably priced, very accommodating, very friendly and knowledgeable. He takes small groups which made for a pleasurable trip. We did the island tour and beach, he gave us plenty of time at each stop and brought us to a very lovely beach.

This was our second time visiting St. Kitts and we really enjoyed it. We did not book anything in advance of our visit but ended up taking an island tour with a driver we found on the port named Basil. The island tour was wonderful, brand new van, small group and very informative driver. The tour was a little longer than the 3 hours we had booked, but the driver let everyone take their time at each stop and with picture taking, very nice.

St. Lucia by far is our favorite stop and the reason we booked this particular cruise. We had booked an excursion online but unfortunately did not make it due to an injury. After getting patched up we took a trip to the Pitons with one of the taxi drivers in the terminal building. We paid $30 for a 3 hour driving tour, very nice. The economy has declined and there are many drivers at the terminal, ask around to get the best price. We spend the remainder of the day at the craft center by the ship. It is a short walk from the ship, close quarters but very reasonable prices on wood pieces and spices.
We took the water taxi from the ship to town, paid $12 for the day pass which is a better value than paying each way. We walked around town for a bit then rented chairs on the beach from one of the vendors on the boardwalk. There are now many vendors along the beach that will rent chairs and have bathroom and changing facilities, ask around for the best price and location.
We've been to St. Thomas many, many times and at this point have taken every tour. We had been to Megan's Bay on previous trips and were looking for something a little more quite this time around. We ended up going to Emerald Beach, fantastic. The beach is close the airport, next to a small resort hotel, about 10-15 minutes by taxi. Very quiet beach, calm water. There is good beach restaurant, bathrooms and chairs for rent, we paid $7 each. Beautiful beach, palm trees, the perfect Caribbean beach.
