Embarkation-Arrived at pier at about 11:15. Somewhat of a line but it moved along quick enough. Was on ship in time to have lunch in MDR. Luggage was delivered to the room by 1:30.
Cabin-Category VF on verandah deck five. Roomy enough, plenty of storage space. Bed very comfortable as was temperature of the room. The bathroom was in good shape and the cabin stewards Rulli and Made did a good job. Vanity was missing stool so my wife had to use table to sit on. Balcony a bit smaller than the decks above but room enough to enjoy. Very quiet.
Ship-Read some reviews that sounded like the ship was in bad shape. The ship was in good condition and no different from most of the 11 other ships I have been on except the brand new Celebrity Silhouette. The only two negative things I experienced were the condition of the lounges at the Seaview pool. Most need to be replaced. Very worn. The other issue was one day at sea we sat on deck 10 port and there was a bad odor that smelled like sewer issue.
Dining-Find the food in the Lido to be good. Fresh orange squeezed orange juice at breakfast. Asian food at lunch was good. Never had a problem finding a table. MDR was also good. Beef was excellent. Fish was fresh tasting.
Our servers, Wan and Yassa were very attentive and friendly. Made sure we were satisfied with the food and their service.
Had dinner also in the Pinnacle Grill. Excellent rib eye steak. Also ate in Canaletto. Food was also good. Very good service in all the dining venues.
Attended the Mariner's luncheon. Also very good and appreciate that HAL recognizes repeat guests they way they do.
Ports-Half Moon Cay is one of our favorite. Also stopped in Aruba and Curacao.
Bonaire is also one of our favorite as the people a friendly and the island is more laid back then the others. Went on snorkel excursion on our own on the Woodwind catamaran. Dee and crew were great. Had the best snorkel experience ever. Panama Canal was next. Interesting. Costa Rica was next stop and went on canal trip. Friendly people and very good tour guide Erick.
Service-Found crew very friendly. Met Captain Turner first day as we were heading to lunch and he stopped and spoke with us and welcomed us aboard.
Entertainment- Standard cruise ship line up. Couple of comedians/juggler. Only attended one of the singers and dancers shows. I would like to see a new approach in this area. I am getting a little bored of the same thing on all cruises.
Disembarkation- It was nice to be able to wait in our cabin until our number was called. Number was called as listed. Baggage found easily. Bit of a line through customs. Only a few lanes.
Summation-This was our fifth HAL cruise and look forward to the next. It was a very enjoyable vacation.
