We just came back from our 8 night/9 day Mexico cruise on Carnival Spirit, leaving out of San Diego and going to Acapulco, Zihuatenejo & Manzanillo. We arrived at the pier at noon and were on the ship by 12:45 - the embarkation process was great - the smoothest we had ever experienced out of 6 cruises. Our room was very nice - we had the extended balcony.

The room steward was very efficient and did a great job. He did extra things to make sure our kids enjoyed the cruise. The food in the Empire dining room was very good and we felt there was a good variety of meals offered. The portions were small to medium, so feel free to order more than one main course and appetizers.

Our waiter did a great job; the busboy appeared to be new and not as experienced. We ate dinner there every evening; only had lunch one time. We did get a little tired of the breakfast menu -the same thing every day. We ate lunch at the buffet on the lido deck everyday and occasionally had breakfast there too. They offered a wide variety of foods with different cuisines from different countries daily and many kid-friendly choices. The kids loved the burgers and pizza. We had 4 kids in our group, 1 in the 9-11 age category, and 3 in the 12-14 category.
