It had been several years since sailing on Celebrity. We have used several other cruise lines based on price and destination.
We boarded the Summit in San Juan. We got to the port at about 12:30 and were on the ship by 12:50. Very easy embarkation! Room not ready yet, so we made our way to the buffet for lunch. The food was very good, although I have had better variety on other ships.
It was our first time on the Summit, so we wandered on our own for a bit of exploring. The Summit is a bit smaller ship than what we have been on lately, and it was nice to be able get around to everything so quickly.
We ate all of our dinners in the main dining room. We had select dining and requested 6:00 pm dining for 2 every night. The dining room opened at 5:45, and we always requested and received the same table by the window. Nice to have the same staff as set-time dining with a bit more freedom. We had considered eating in one of the specialty restaurants, but the food was so good in the Cosmopolitan that we stayed there! With the port-intensive itinerary, we ate very small lunches in the early to mid-afternoon. Sometimes at the buffet and sometimes just by the pool. The burgers and fries by the pool were great! DH loved the ship-made ice cream!
We did not attend all of the shows as we generally go to bed early. We did enjoy the ventriloquist Patrick Murray.
We found the spa area to be very peaceful and relaxing. The Thalassotherapy pool was great! We were able to to use any of gym equipment between 6:00 and 6:30 am without a problem.
Our room was very clean and average size for an ocean view. We were surprised by the size of the shower! A nice rectangular size rather than the cylinder we are used to!
All of the staff was very friendly. We had no need to use the client relations desk except for changing money and had no issues there.
We did not book any shore excursions through Celebrity.
Disembarkation went very smoothly and we were to the airport by 8:15am.(With the help of a crazy cab driver!!)
