We had a very relaing and enjoyble cruise this month on the Emerald. The staff in all categories were great.
The cabin location on the AFT was not ideal, because of the vibrations and the noises....great view from the back, and the balconies are large, but you give up the quiet sailing in that area..unfortunatley.
They need new matresses and linens are not great...especially the towels..yikes....not great at all.
They have maintained the ship beautifully..for its age, as compared to RCCL and Celebrity on ships of equal age.
The food was the only area I felt it was a dissapointment, and over the past several years since Carnival took them over, the quality has diminished and so has the variety and specialy dishes....it has become more like cafeteria style dining unfortunatly....but they still make a nice presentation to the table.
Gone are the days of the incredible dishes, mid nite buffets, and the beautfiful pastries. Now they have the two specialty restuarants, and while the abiance is nice, the food a Sabatinis, is no longer a special nite. It is mediocer at best, and they have cute alot of nice items from their menu, since the last time I ate there, In January 2012, on the Sapphire. ( you can get the same food in the dining room on Italian nit, without paying the extra $20 p.p.) because it is nothing special there any longer.
The public areas of the ship are very well maintained, and I feel they have really done a nice job keeping things sparkling!
The Pool Deck chair mats need replacing, but the Conservatory is the place to hang out if you like luxury and feeling pampered, and catered to, while getting a tan or massage, or just reading under a cabana. Very nice spot on the FORWARD area of the ship on the 16th floor, right above the SPA.
