What a wonderful cruise. The staff on the Westerdam were great. There were plenty of shore excursions for those seeking activities and plenty of places to relax on the ship for those seeking relaxation. I was concerned because our assigned cabin was at the rear of the ship and I can get queasy with the motion of the ocean. Other than the first afternoon at sea when I spent too much time laying down in the cabin, I had no problems. I loved that our cabin had a shower only and it was a hand held, adjustable shower with great water pressure. The shower also had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in a wall mounted dispenser. Our verandah was a lovely place to have morning coffee and before dinner drinks. The ship is showing her age a little with a couple of rust spots on the outside decks and verandahs but this was her last voyage before a 10 day stint in drydock to be "fixed up".
The food is outstanding on this cruise line and because I had a birthday during the week we splurged on the Pinnacle Grill ($25 per person). We had the most wonderful dinner there. Great service and great food. There is also an italian restaurant adjacent to the LIDO buffet that is no extra charge and has wonderful italian food and service. The LIDO buffet was always great and we relly enjoyed the TACO bar at the LIDO pool.
We are already picking out next years cruise on Holland America.
Cabin 6161, Aft. You can feel the motion of the ocean here. Loved the shower only bathroom with the hand held, adjustable shower and the wall mounted dispenser including not only shampoo and conditioner but body wash as well. This is a roomy stateroom for two people and the verandah is an adequate size. It was very quiet because it is at the end of the hallway, away from the elevators and traffic.
