MAGIC ROCKS

Sail Date: April 2012
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Galveston

I booked this cruise almost a year ago and have been watching it daily and reading the reviews. From our experience if you had a bad cruise on this ship it may have been your attitude because we never experienced the concerns addressed by other cruisers. Were there lines - yes, there are always lines on cruise ships for food and such. I found the lines to be opportunities to meet other cruisers and talk with Carnival staff who were ALWAYS pleasant. If you are nice to them they are at their best. I heard people complain and I think they probably always complain. One passenger complained that they did not have home grown tomatoes. Exactly where would they put a vegetable garden? We never had problems with food, service, finding chairs, etc.

The dinners were unbelievable. You must try Prime Steakhouse. For $30.00 per person it is truly a value for the exceptional experience. Hint - reserve your spot on your embarkation date and you get a free bottle of wine. Also More reserve ahead to insure your spot. It was full the entire cruise. We had lunch at Cucina de Capitano - awesome and free at lunch. You can also do dinner reservations ahead for this. The RED FROG PUB is a blast. The beer is fantastic but ask for a Dirty Mojito as well. Eric and the group were so much fun. You can also get some great food made with Conch (PRONOUNCED KONK) for snacks or even light meals.. Every meal, pizza and burrito we ate was out of this world.

SPECIAL PROPS to Viktoryia in Piano Bar. She is unbelievable at customer service and can whip up a martini. Be sure to try the sampler. My personal favorite was the Chipolte Martini. She can make anything very well. Junior and his team took excellent care of our state room and always remembered our name. SO POLITE and accomodating. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Magic Balcony Panorama 11237

Tons of storage. The ship did very little rocking and the bathrooms seem larger. We did the Cloud 9 Spa upgrade and liked the close proximity to the Cloud 9 Spa with it being only one floor up.

Port and Shore Excursions

Dolphin Swim & Encounter

(2)
We enjoyed the five minutes with the Dolphins and LOVED the people. Did not like the 3 hours of sitting and waiting that goes with this excursion. I am glad I did it but wont again. Freeport has great people and try the barbecue shack (its turquoise blue with green coconuts around it closest to the departure areas) and try the jerked chicken and coconut water!

Pub Crawl

Tons of fun. There is a lot of walking but it was so much fun. You really dont have to do a lot of drinking. We did the very first one in the morning so the group was a little more subdued. They give you a free t-shirt that is definitely eye catching. The folks who did it later in the day appeared to have a significantly less sober time. It was all in good fun.

Beach Break

(2)
Wyndam Not an all inclusive. Frankly, really boring.
