Sailing from Southampton Saturday 31 March returning Wednesday 11th April 2012
A good clean and well equipped ship and crew for a great cruise experience BUT the following points were such that we will look to other lines for our next cruise.
1. We had to queue every meal time in the Windjammer Restaurant which did not make us and fellow passengers feel welcomed.
SOLUTION:- The management should have kept the other main restaurants open for longer periods to ease the queues but they did not!
2 We had to queue for the flow rider and rock climbing every time because both were only open at restricted times and with a fully sold out ship they could not cope with the numbers.
SOLUTION:- Again the management failed to address the problem by not opening both in the early afternoons.
3 Shore visits were too short for any real use. The ship often docked late morning but then sailed away early afternoon. More SOLUTION:-Evening departures would solve the problem.
4 Internet use is unreliable and most times just not available despite what the brochures claim.
SOLUTION:- The ship's on board Internet system needs to be replaced with a proper current working system.
5 None of the pools on board have a moveable cover (hydrodome) to give protection, and as we had plenty of inclement weather, the pools were not used very much so the lower decks became over-crowded with bored passengers. Also it was very difficult in the evenings prior to second dining option, to find seats in the various bars.
SOLUTION:-Again the top management did not attempt to provide any real intelligent entertainment in lieu of the bad weather.
6 The crew tried hard to please but were let down by top management. I do not know if their hands are tied by the bosses in Miami or if they are free to react to day to day situations as they occur for passengers enjoyment of their chosen cruise. All they could say and kept repeating was! "We hope to see you again soon"! Cruises are not cheap and with the less obvious extra costs of "on board items and tips", we were disappointed.
7 It was very difficult in the evenings prior to second dining option, to find seats in the various bars.
SOLUTION:- Simply provide more seating area
No problems considering the numbers of passengers.
No free car parking on this cruise. All our previous cruises from Southampton have included free, ship side car parking. We would have welcomed the same courtesy from Royal Caribbean, but were disappointed.
