Loved every second of our 1st cruise!!!!

Sail Date: February 2012
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Barbados

I honestly do not know where to start! That 1st view from the taxi as we approached the harbour? Amazing, breathtaking!! It was huge!! Getting from the taxi to the ship must've taken all of 5mins! Unfortunately, once onboard we were holed up in a dining room where it took an hour to clear the customs, not a huge problem unless you are as excited as a 12yr old and just want to explore!!

When we did get to our room, we were amazed at the size, not quite sure what i expected but was certainly presently surprised, ample sized balcony. Did not realise i could get so excited about having an ice bucket and mini bar!! Food- We only ate in the main resteraunt on 1st night and last night, mainly because we found the food in the buffet resteraunts so good (must do the chinese at lunch time- amazing) and didn't feel we needed to schedule our cruise to dinner times.

The trips were amazing, although we did find that if you leave the ships and went with the local tours, they were More aroud 25% cheaper and had much less traveling time!! Never failed to find a sun bed ondeck (even on the 1 day at sea)took advantage of all enertainment on offer and honestly cannot think of a bad thing to say about the cruise!!!!!

Our biggest issue was with our tour operator on final day! had to disembark at 1, no pick up until 2.30 (had to sit dockside) and then 2hrs waiting (outside) airport, although there are worse places to be stranded i'm sure! Then when check in did open, another 3hrs wait for plane! The cruise, was our 1st, but certaily will not be our last, roll on our next Carnival Cruise Less

Cabin review: Carnival Victory Interior Upper 6215

Loved it, We had a balcony cabin on level 6 (6215) and could not fault it other than we were quite near to the main entertainment area so some nights i did feel i knew the show before i actualy saw it, just because i could hear the staffs rehearsal. when we boarded we found our TV didn't work, one phone later and we had a maintanence man ready to repair. As he could not do immediatly, asked what time we would be out so that he didn't disturb. by the time we returnrd from dinner, 1 working TV! The shower was amazing, plenty hot water and lots of power! Hairdryer? Forget it, take you're own if you don't want to spend an hour blow drying!Very clean, plenty of space, lovely comfortable bed, not too much noise from corridors and balcony is a must in my mind! The sky at night in the Caribean is the clearest i think you could ever see. Only downside i can see is that when ship at sail (most nights) the outside lights have to be off! Bit of a pain if, like me you'd like to chill and read a book on your balcony whilst listening to the sea lapping around the boat! Next time, i'll take a torch!! 10/10

Port and Shore Excursions

Not impressed. Had to disembark for customs, in total took around 2-3hrs. San Juan seemed too big, too busy, too dirty. Caught a local bus to 'best beach' spent less than an hour there and went back to ship! Too manyy people, 2 beers at bar cost $9, too much wind! Next time, will def stay onboard as long as possible, until evening! We did have a nice walk down the front at night with the local market stalls etc

Lovbely shops and local bars for great atmosphere x

We just walked the 5/10 mins to beach and had the best land day of the cruise. Colourful shops, locals (was offered 'weed' by a very colouful local-which my 20yr old daughter found hilarious- i DID decline), fantastic local food. Beautiful beach. This is certainly a day we won't forget.
