Thomson Dream Cruise Review by canterburybell: Caribbean runaway
We had a 3 hour flight delay going to Barbados, but embarkation speedy and efficient. This was a quickly booked cruise to get us out of the UK, and it fitted the bill, however, the whole ship needs to be refurbished with special care being given to the cabins, they are tired and the beds needs replacing, they are lumpy and uncomfortable. The whole decor of the ship is dated. Someone also needs to deal with the fact that there are insufficient sunbeds, to go around, the ship has far too many passengers for its size. No balconies was a real disappointment, and the air conditioning was temperamental.
However, on the plus side, you don't spend the whole time in the cabin, and the cabin stewards are considerate, polite and will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as they can. The waiters are exceptional, always smiling, and happy to let you try anything (just to taste if necessary) they quickly make you feel that you are important to them.
The first More class part of the cruise is the ENTERTAINMENT TROUPE - who I cant praise enough, every night they perform twice, sometimes 3 times if there is a deck party, they are all true professionals. I have seen worse performed West End shows.
The itinerary of the cruise was good, although with some of the ports it was very difficult to get through the cordon of taxi drivers, which was quite scary in places. They will not take no for an answer.Overall it was an enjoyable experience, we relaxed and saw some new places, and although we probably wouldn't choose this ship again, that is not to say it would not be a good option for the Caribbean.
