First time on Radiance of the Seas.....the renovations ($23m ) were much appreciated.
Though the ship did appear to have sewerage issues.... And a constant lingering smell around deck 8 and most of the ship.
The ship is big and modern and will be a hit with the Aussie cruise market.
The food is great ...better than Princess
The specialty restaurants were amazing and well worth the $70 per person.
Best Japanese we ever had ...Samba grill 9 mains plus starters and desert ( do not eat before attending ) .....at Chops order med rare as on this ship medium is over cooked . Giovanni's wow awesome ....Just do it best $70 you will ever spend
Outside pool is small
Solarium is magic
Windjammers stops serving at 9pm ....so Park Cafe is the answer for midnight snack
The tender service worked well
Now ...I must explain one thing in all my cruises the Ships Capt is just a nice guy that has little impact on the cruise experience . WE HAD CAPT KLAUS ....best captain ever ( and we have done 62 cruises )
He gave informative talks
Held himself admirably and was seen throughout the ship...shopped in the boutiques and ate in the specialty restaurants .But that is not why we think he is a Legend .....the weather patterns to our north worried him and he had the courage and conviction to change around our itinerary so we dodged the cyclone and still got in every port ..Legend !
The bulk of the cruise benefitted ....but as always there were the " whingers " ....
Dear Elderly Americans ....we do not tolerated whinging or complaining in our country we are a nation of " no worries " so if you MUST complain constantly DO NOT CRUISE in our region ...stay in your own space and complain too your hearts content .
The entire cruise was a great experience other than that sewerage issue...Bobbie the cruise director was a funny guy yet lead the cruise with the utmost professionalism .
We will travel on this ship again ....
