I was a first time cruiser, so I was open to about everything on this cruise! I had poured over the message boards, researched every excursion to the nth degree and felt like I had a pretty good handle on what to expect. My sister was treating me to this cruise for my 5oth birthday :)It was her and I...no husbands or kids. I know...it was awesome.
We arrived the night before in Tampa - stayed at a Hilton not far from the airport and a nice upscale mall. Ate at the Cheesecake Factory and had a nice relaxing night. Most of the hotels there cater to the cuise folks, and they offered an awesome shuttle service all over the area. We hit Walgreens before turning in and bought water to take with us, along with our two bottles of wine we were allowed. We decided to buy the wine in Tampa...who wants to arrive on their cruise with Pinot soaked clothes?
Got up - hopped on a shuttle that took us to the port that was not to far away. Once you arrive at the port, things start happening quickly. It's gridlock, so be prepared to say goodbye to your luggage and have some dollars ready for tips. We carried on a small bag and our wine. Don't forget...have your cruise docs and passport ON YOUR PERSON, you are going to need it. They ask if you have your passport several times.
