This was a first cruise for hubby (42) and myself(40). My wonderful boss booked this cruise for he and his wife and ten other staff and their spouses. We are hooked and are going on the Western Caribbean route- again on Caribbean Princess with our teen sons in August. We flew out of Portland,OR about 11am PST. A full day of airplane travel was endured before we checked into our room at The Comfort Inn in Ft Lauderdale at about 11:30 pm their time. We will try to get out of PDX earlier so it's not so late of an arrival.
Sat. morning we boarded our "Partridge Family" bus pulling a trailer full of our group of 24's luggage and arrived about 10:30 am for Embarkation. We got in line nice and early, so boarding went fairly quickly. Once onboard we met up with another couple from our group at the Lobby Bar for the first of several fruity drinks. Our server Theuns was a complete joy, and he entertained us with his comedic personality the whole trip! We met at the Lobby bar to have a drink while waiting to be seated for dinner, most every night just to be entertained by Theuns. We had many good laughs! He's a "keeper" Princess! We had good weather leaving port in FLL,however early the next a.m.I was literally rocked awake by the rolling of sea.
I felt an immediate desire to have fresh air and daylight which wasn't readily available on the 11th deck in an inside cabin.( We are getting a balcony next time) A few hours later I was able to purchase dramamine in the ships little store, which helped quite a bit. Some of my co-workers were also affected, and some found relief from the bracelets, while others had planned ahead and brought the patches that you wear behind your ear.( I will bring patches next time) Be careful using these if you also wear contacts, as poor Bethany couldn't figure out why her eyes were dilated! It was from the medicine in the patch on her fingers.
