This cruise had been postponed since 2020 and it was worth waiting for. The Grand European Tour took my wife and I from Budapest to Amsterdam and along the way we saw many beautiful towns, cities and castles galore. We also made some very nice new friends--a result of "no-fixed seating" in the dining room--whom we have kept in touch with and will be visiting in the near future.
The food on ...
Past experience with Viking was good. This was our 3rd Viking cruise. The first was Russia in 2019 and Italy, Greece, and the Adriatic in 2022. I honestly love Viking. We just had a bad experience on the Grand European river cruise due to the ship having some issues (3 of the 4 propellers were damaged). We splurged on the Explorer suite, of which there are two, on the back of the boat. I would ...
You cannot beat Viking for providing exceptional service and adventure on this Grand River Cruise on the Viking Magni. We were new to river cruising and it surpassed anything we thought about a river cruise. The relaxed atmosphere was perfect and the majestic scenery has to be seen. Words cannot express what we were looking at.
We began our journey in Prague, where Viking started our ...
My husband and I are 70-ish and in pretty good health, although I do have some mobility issues (I use a rolling walker for longer distances). We felt this cruise would be a good way to see a nice selection of European cities in relative comfort.
Our travel to our point of embarkation was NOT well arranged. Our wishes were not honored and our itinerary was, in consequence, ridiculously long, ...
Lots of fun. The service worked very well for us. Not too formal.
I liked that the food portions were kept small (we still eat way too much). The standard wine offerings were always excellent. The layout of the restaurant with larger table helped everyone to meet new people. We mainly kept to the reginal food offerings which were all great. The wait staff were all friendly and helpful. ...
This was our first river barge cruise and it did not disappoint. The Viking staff onboard and on shore were professional, thoughtful and extremely client oriented. The schedule on board worked well and the excursions that we had chosen were managed on time and were educational, humorous, and well-received by all. We were disappointed that the Hungarian Horsemen excursion in Budapest was ...
This was our first Viking cruise, and it won't be our last! From landing at Munich airport to leaving from Budapest at the end of our cruise, it was the most well orchestrated trip. Their assistance was available as soon as we stepped out to the airport terminal. Viking does NOT miss a beat. The food was excellent and the staff was extremely courteous and diligent on making this the most ...
We really enjoyed this trip. It was our first river cruise. The Christmas markets in the ports were wonderful.
The food on the ship was excellent. Especially loved the soups at lunch and dinner. The included wines with dinner were very good.
We did the included tours and a few extras. Most ports had plenty of free time to explore on our own some too.
Really glad we did 2 extra ...
Really enjoyed this cruise. It was our first river cruise.
I was worried about having only one dining option, but the food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the soups at lunch and dinner. One night was a German buffet. Desserts were excellent also. The wine and beer included with the price were very good.
The included tours were very good. In most locations left plenty of time to ...
I just came back from a 15-day Budapest to Amsterdam last week. At best the food quality is very average may be substandard in most days. We had only two good meals, Chateaubriand and Rack of lamb. Especially the regional food menus nightly were horrible. The Wiener schnitzel was like the bark of an old tree and the German Roast Pork with Crispy Skin was like a tree trunk, dry and chewy! We ...
We appreciate you taking the time to outline your experience, sinova, although we are sorry to hear of your disappointment in onboard dining and disembarkation. Should you like to continue...
