We chose Carnival Sunshine because we love the new Carnival 2.0 features and the itinerary was perfect. It definitely felt much smaller than the usual ships we go on (Vista, Miracle, etc.) The Lido buffet area feels very small but the trick is to utilize the Havana area for meals where most people don't look.
We were amazed at how well the ship was cleaned every day by all staff. Also, this was ...
We cruised on this ship when it was the Destiny and had a great experience. This was the total opposite. Let me first say that our cruise director Mikey was AMAZING. I’d sail with him as CD again any day, he went above and beyond.
Pros: JiJi Restaurant was wonderful! Make sure to try the pork belly, pot stickers, and the wide noodles. This is family style dining so everyone gets to try each ...
We sailed on the Sunshine in June 2018 and we enjoyed the ship so much, that when we returned home we booked a New Year's Eve cruise on her. Even chose the same cabin.
I don't want to be redundant, so I won't repeat everything from my review of our June cruise, but I do want to let everyone who hasn't sailed on the Sunshine know that the negative reviews I have read are way off the mark. The ...
This ship reminds me of a six year old mini van. It will get you there and back but it has no style, grace or wow factor.
After a 100+ cruises I believe I have a decent idea of what to expect.
This review takes a quick, broad view. You can have a poor meal or cabin steward on a great ship and a great meal etc on a poor ship, it is the overall experience that counts.
Ship-Is old, ...
We chose this ship because we wanted a New Years cruise. First, I will start with the good. Embarkation was very fast. Mikey, the cruise director tried his best but was letdown from the Vista, which we sailed on last year. Our dining room staff Eric; Carlos and Iketut were incredible and fun. Now the bad. We were supposed to dock in the Dominican Republic but were not able to land due to weather, ...
Service personnel is great.
Every day there was a SEWER SMELL that was OVERWHELMING near the elevators on your way up to eat. Was disgusting. Staff was very attentive. Entertainment was on a high school level as far as talent. Nothing like other ships we have been on in the past. Debarkment was ridiculous. We were asked several times to leave our room from 8:30-9:15 yet only one floor was ...
I compare this cruise to past adventures on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and MSC which we love. I blocked out any negative reviews regarding Carnival and ended up loving this cruise. Here is the real lowdown on the Carnival Sunshine. Let’s start with the things I loved.
CABIN-The location of our spa room 11030 was amazing. It was steps from the waterfall and the all adults serenity deck. The ...
3rd time cruising on the Carnival Sunshine, picked this itinerary as it fits our schedules perfectly and we've gotten used to spending Christmas in the warm weather. We had an aft extended balcony cabin on Deck 7. We often ate at the specialty restaurants and also had late dining. Didn't use the buffet, but it looked fine at a passing glance, had a couple of pizzas - they were OK too. Staff ...
Wanting to go to the southern Caribbean we choose this ship, big mistake,
the food in the buffet was the same every day, looked very brown and greasy.
Looking for peace and quite we retreated to the so called Serenity adults only retreat !,only to find that people were up at 7 am with there towels to reserve sun loungers !, there is a notice not to do this but still people reserved and some ...
My kids love taking a cruise at the holidays, so for 2018 we settled on Carnival Sunshine because of the itinerary. My older daughter read the book "The Cay" in school and wanted to see Curacao and my younger daughter loves Carnival's kids' activities, so it was an easy choice.
We drove to Port Canaveral the morning of the cruise and parked with Lots of Honor, which was a very easy process. The ...
