We took the 10 day Mexico out of San Francisco on the Grand Princess. Departed on 8 November and had wonderful weather till the last dayout of San Francisco on the Grand Princess. Had outstanding the entire cruise till the last day. the return to San Francisco saw the city quite cool and blanketed in smoke fro the fires near Chico.
The Grand Princess is a medium sized ship with a capacity of ...
We have sailed the Grand Princess to Mexico (x2) California Coast (x2) Hawaii and Alaska. We reside in the SF Bay area, can easily reach cruise terminal, and enjoy cruising. The Grand Princess has aged, but not too gracefully: Many of the public areas now show very worn furniture, some of which is now not comfortable due to loss of seating softness; the pool areas show lots of wear and use, and ...
Our cabin A323 on the Grand Princess was very nice with a starboard balcony. Loved the elevator when it announced our floor “Aloha!” Enjoyed the near instant circulating water for perfect shower temperatures. Our cabin steward Fernando Vivero kept our room neat, clean, and replenished and even kept my ice bag filled after I broke my toe. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I am ...
We wanted to experience Hawaii. There were 10 in our group. 8 are high school friends celebrating our 60th birthdays. I found the ship was old and the chairs in the lounges were outdated and uncomfortable. The food at dinner needed more selection throughout the cruise. It seemed the same food was on the menu every 2 todays. Not much choice for desserts also. There needed to be more poolside ...
My two sisters and I chose to go on this cruise because we had never been on a cruise before and we wanted to do so before we got to be too old to enjoy it.
We left out of San Francisco, being raised in California, we didn't do any exploring of the city because we had all previously been there and done that. The first thing we learned about cruising was don't judge the cruise by the ...
We took this cruise as an anniversary and birthday cruise. The itinerary looked great. 15 day cruise to Hawaii. We had 9 sea days. My biggest complaint is that the cruise was not fun at all. Some of the entertainment was excellent and some was not so good.Crew members seemed to be distracted most of the time. They were not very visiable during the day. None of them went out of their way to mingle ...
We finally decided to visit Hawaii and based on the fact that we enjoy and have cruised many times thought this would be a good way to sample the islands. We had been on the Grand a few years back and despite reviews of it needing an overhaul had read that it had been refurbished in 2016 and chose this ship. While on board we were informed it is going into drydock early 2019. Good ...
San Francisco still has only one Princess ship home ported there, the Grand Princess. Los Angeles has maybe four ships, Seattle a couple, Florida too many and Australia so many I can't recall all of them. San Francisco, that beautiful city, has but ONE. The food on board is good but needs some help. I remember years ago on the very old Fair Princess, the dining room was outstanding and everyone ...
We just finished sailing on a 10 day Mexican cruise out of San Francisco and had a great time.
Embarkation was a breeze. Since we live close we just took an Uber to the port. We arrived around 10:45 and were onboard in less than 30 minutes. We had time to kill so we went to DaVinci's for lunch and had a great start to our cruise. Afterwards we toured the ship on our own and while it is a 20 ...
Good embarkation and disembarkation. Ship is old. Cabin is a little tired, but serviceable. Buffet dining is average. Dining rooms are better. Entertainment is generally good. Service is good. Ports and shore excursions are fine. Nothing highly negative or positive. I would consider this a well-run operation - competent without pizzazz.
Cabin safe was a little finicky - the trick is to ...
