Dining at sunset on formal night. We dressed but many folks did not. We wished we didn't also (less clothes to pack!)

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Independence of the Seas

I have just returned from 2/52 on RCI Independence of the Seas. Having taken the same cruise last year I was somewhat disappointed with the number of cutbacks RCI have made. There was no visible maintenance being done to the ship whilst docked or any cleaning of public areas. The drinks packages go from $10 to $23 and then hike up to $69. They have omitted the previous beer package and only ...

Still great but costcutting bites

Indy is still the best ship at sea, but tgd RC costcutting cheapens the experience somewhat. Like paying for room service. Like hiked up excursion costs. Like cheaper performance acts such as the Take That Experience (more fake that than take that) and a cheaper menu with very few options for limiited options diners, such as Lactose Intolerance. Massive choices for things to do means on ...

My husband and I have cruised on the Independence several times and love everything about it, the staff are always friendly and helpful, we like to stay in a junior suite as we like the space and balcony, our cabin steward was excellent too. We prefer to eat in the windjammer most nights as it gives us the opportunity to be more flexible with meal times . The service in the dining room is superb ...

This was our 2nd cruise on Independence Of The Seas and the ship was just as great as we remembered. Food in the main dining room was varied and always served quickly even when it was really busy. Windjammer selection is always good and plenty of choice. The only other restaurant we ate at this time was Johnny Rockets and again food really good and freshly cooked for you. We had an Ocean View ...

We had a fantastic time on Indy. Food was amazing, entertainment was world class. The service was first class. Joff Eaton is a legend. There are 4500 passengers on the ship but everything is so well organised you rarely feel that is busy. The shows at night were brilliant. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The days ashore were well organised. There was lots for the kids to do, climbing ...

Cutting costs to the bone shows with seasoned cruisers.

We have enjoyed about 10 RCL cruises (Diamond memebers) but Indy is showing her age and cabins tatty and carpets not clean. I know she's just about to have a massive refit but should have been done sooner. Many small things have changed from previous RCL cruises and it's no longer a WOW! holiday. The accountants seem to have got their red pens out and said - don't need that, or that, or ...

First time Cruising--Much to be impressed with

I was on this cruise soley because it was my daughters choice of the ultimate holiday following the hard graft of GCSEs. Cruising never been an ambition for me and in truth I was there under sufferance! I read a lot of reviews before I travelled and these only made me more sure I was going to dislike the experience. I would say I am fussy, I like good service, I detest rude people and don't like ...

Not the luxury I had been led to expect

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Independence of the Seas

Having had two super cruises with a 'cheaper' company previously and loved them, I was persuaded by a good deal to try the so-called cream of the crop. Unfortunately I was put off even before the holiday had begun as we had a wait in the airport of around 1hr 30 minutes before getting on the coach for transfer to Southampton. Next it was a terrible long queue for security and then another queue ...

Had a wonderful three days in London, then took train to Southhampton for overnight. Easiest embarkation ever. This was our sixteenth cruise and I believe 5th on Royal Caribbean. The ship is clean and beautiful. We just wanted a relaxing 8 days and we got that. We only sat in on one show in the evening as we retire early, but get up very early. We thought the Windjammer was very good. Ate ...

Room: Deck 6 inside room for 4 - descent size, found enough room under the bed to fix luggages - had coffee table removed to get extra space as it was getting in the way. Entertainment: Show team and band were great - onboard headliner was great to kick off the cruise but rest of the headliners were mediocre - ice show was also good. Dining: Food variety was not as great as other cruises ...
