Dining at sunset on formal night. We dressed but many folks did not. We wished we didn't also (less clothes to pack!)

Food was lovely but a serious lack of vegetables and starters were not great for my quite conservative husband 3days he had Cesar salad. Service is fantastic you said something and it appeared. Shows were ok grease fantastic and ice shows wonderful but too many comics promenade shows are fantastic .We didn't do any tours as I am disabled and can't keep up with them but the hop on buses are ...

I choose this cruise because it was recommended to me. I would like to thank Igusti Praganda stateroom attendant housekeeper who kept my room on deck 9 cabin number 9489 in prime order and every evening a lovely animal made out of towels on my bed he was pleasant and always greeted me with a smile. Food was excellent and waiters came around to see what drinks we wanted. The pool was delightful ...

We liked the ports in the brochure and I had enjoyed over a dozen cruises with Royal Caribbean in the past; however I had always booked my air and transfers myself. I am a Senior now and I am changing the way I travel to let others do some of the booking chores. We had Royal Caribbean do the Air and Sea Program for us, that is handle the flights from California to London and return, also all ...

TIRED SHIP - AMAZING PEOPLE!

This was a our second cruise with RC - prior to that we sailed on the newly fitted Anthem of the Seas. Then we had a loft Suite - This time we chose the Independence of the Seas because she also sailed from Southampton - meaning we had no luggage allowance. Parking was easy and the ship called at ports that were of interest to us. As this was a special occasion - we decided to book the ROYAL ...

We went on Independence with our friends who have not cruised before, they chose Indy after hearing me going on about her all the time. Check in was a breeze , straight on the ship and to the Champagne bar ! All staff were lovey , so helpful and always smiling . Our cabin attendant was never in our way and kept our room spotless . Everyone on that ship works extremely hard and for long ...

Ship and great. Ports a bit rubbish. Not as much of a party ship as Carnival

Found Joff a bit creepy, Why is a 60 year old man wearing comedy laces. He was not visible at all, only to introduce the shows. Joff didn't get the party going at all. He is lazy and didn't add anything to my trip. Get rid!. Ship was lovely and so were the staff, although it was very reserved and didn't have a great party atmosphere. It was too quiet and I felt really loud and noisy. The ...

Things that Independence of the Seas needs to change

Tried to do a drinks package for Saturday and Sunday only. Got told its 8 days or nothing. 8 days cost $1040 for 2 of us. Approx £830.00 . (Ridiculous,). In windjammer buffet there are NO trays to carry food and drink back to table. You have to make 2 or 3 trips. We went to Bilbao got shuttle bus to town. When we arrived after a 45 min ride we got told by staff at bus stop. ALL SHOPS ARE SHUT due ...

Extremely crowded ship

Of the 64 ships that I have cruised aboard, this certainly was the most crowded. I cruised on this ship in 2014 and sailed twice aboard the Liberty of the Seas (sister of the Independence) and did not notice any crowding. The cruise director stated that there were 4319 passengers on this particular cruise (nearly 700 above double occupancy). As a result, it was extremely difficult to find a seat ...

Loved the main dining room and the staff , Blyton, Paul and Diana were fab. Grease was good and most of the other shows. The onboard activities were lacking unless you like quizzes! The ship was far too crowded , we couldn’t get seats on deck or in cafes , bars etc. Hated the reused plastic plates and glasses - yuck! Windjammer was poor, senior staff constantly asking for positive ...

Still great but costcutting bites

Indy is still the best ship at sea, but tgd RC costcutting cheapens the experience somewhat. Like paying for room service. Like hiked up excursion costs. Like cheaper performance acts such as the Take That Experience (more fake that than take that) and a cheaper menu with very few options for limiited options diners, such as Lactose Intolerance. Massive choices for things to do means on ...
