This was our first HAL cruise and I found it met and exceeded our expectations. The Eurodam, and Holland America, turned out to be an excellent fit for us -- not too big and even for a holiday cruise there was not too much noise and bustle, yet there were enough of the type of things we liked to do to keep us entertained (when we weren't "busy" relaxing).

My wife and I are pretty experienced cruisers and relatively easygoing. This was actually our third time on the Eurodam. Our preferred cruise lines are Celebrity and NCL. We chose this cruise for a new experience. We have cruised other lines but this was our first HAL cruise. The staff are all 5 star +. BB King Band and singers are truly fantastic. I am top level with Cunard and Princess. I needed a one week Caribbean cruise near Christmas. Cunard only had a 2 week from New York and Princess didn't fit my dates. To be honest, the cruise was great, very relaxing with good service and food.
Embarkation was unbelievably fast. It took us less than 15 minutes to be on the ship! What was disappointing was the cabin location themselves.

I had a great offer on fares. Daily activities were almost zilch and worse when in port.
While the buffet for breakfast and lunch were very good, the dinners in the main dining room were barely mediocre. Menu choices were limited, soup was served tepid and portions were on the medium to small size.

Not a "bad" cruise by any means, but the overall experience I would list as average. The quality of care has greatly diminished and it seems the staff's overall attitude is one of not caring.
Food in main dining room of low quality, never close to being warm (even after sending back). After two negative experiences ate at the buffet thereafter.

The week before Christmas, I embarked on the Eurodam in Fort Lauderdale. My son had come down with the flu so I wound up traveling solo. I had already booked my cabana in the Retreat. I LOVE HAL because it is the only ship where you can get into your stateroom as soon as you board the ship. No more lugging around carry on bags until 2:00pm.
