For the first time during 34 Holland America Line (HAL) cruises, we were disappointed. If our next HAL cruise is this bad, we'll adjust how we use our retired travel budget accordingly. Main Dining Room dinner menu selections included cheap never-heard-of beef steaks. Pork Belly was on the menu twice! The NY Strip was tasteless, and the prime rib full of gristle. If we have to eat in the ...
We enjoyed our third cruise with the Holland America Line. The embarkation has been streamlined greatly and we were on the ship in record time. We did, however, ensure we were at the port early. We really enjoyed the food. It was fresh and delicious and the variety was splendid. The dining room excelled as usual. The food arrived for our table of 8, quickly and beautifully presented. We tried ...
First cruise on Holland America (most of our cruises have been with Oceania). We chose this one for the itinerary (note: this was an 11-day Southern Caribbean cruise that departed from Fort Lauderdale on Feb 14, not 18-day Western & Southern Caribbean). Embarkation was remarkably fast and smooth. Same for disembarkation - we especially liked staying in our cabin until the appointed time to ...
This was our second cruise on Holland America. We sailed from Fort Lauderdale on February 14, 2018 on the Eurodam for an 11 day Caribbean Lesser Antilles cruise. We booked this a year and half before the cruise to get a Neptune suite on the back of the ship with a wrap around balcony Suite 6164. There are only 2 per deck port and starboard. The stateroom was fantastic and had been remodeled and ...
We did a 2 night pre-cruise stay at the Embassy Suites in Ft. Lauderdale. Checking in at the front desk went quick, thanks to Kathleen. Our room was clean (no black mold as reported by previous guests) and comfortable. Enjoyed the free breakfast and the 5 o'clock cocktail hour. We also enjoyed walking around the shops behind the hotel and was able to purchase 2 bottles of wine to bring aboard. ...
We wish to express our opinions regarding the subject cruise in hopes to stem the downward trend in cruise quality. Overall, we find this cruise disappointing in view of our more than 400 days cruising across several lines. On this cruise we experienced some pleasant things, some not so pleasing and some we miss.
The cuisine was grade C at best. Pork belly multiple times. Root vegetables ...
My partner and I did a 7-day Western Caribbean on the Eurodam in late January. We’d sailed on the Eurodam in the winter of 2010 and were happy. But we’ve only sailed Celebrity yearly since. I booked this cruise because of a great deal on a Signature suite as well as that one stop was at Half Moon Cay.
I’m not going to lie. I was a little concerned that the ship would look tired compared ...
I found an amazing deal for this Western Caribbean cruise online around Thanksgiving and I had never sailed on HAL (7 cruises on other lines) so I thought I'd give them a try. I'm so glad I that I booked this ship - I had a fantastic time. As many others have pointed out, this is not a "party till you drop" cruise line; the average age was around 70 with about 12 kids on board. If you want a ...
Check in was fast. We didn’t have to wait on a line. We went straight to the counter. We were given a number (10) and told to wait until our number was called. We waited about an hour before they started calling numbers, but boarding went quickly and smoothly. I didn’t like the fact that I was forced to wait on a photo line even though I wasnt interested in taking a photo. Disembarkation was also ...
We booked this cruise during the Cyber sale, after Thanksgiving. It was a good deal and we were ready for a little down time. As I have found to be the usual for Holland America, the staff on the Eurodam are wonderful!
The entertainment good although somewhat limited. We really enjoy Billboard on Board and the Lincoln Center.
Activities late at night are lacking, as is the ...
