Disappointing experience

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Queen Victoria

As a solo traveler I had hoped that this cruise would be enjoyable, it wasn’t. A lot of the time I felt that the ship was too crowded and it could be difficult to enjoy everything it had to offer. For instance, the sun loungers. Plenty of them, but most draped with towels even though no one was using them. Obviously people would bag their lounger and keep it all day. The lido restaurant, often ...

It's the little things that make a difference... or not

This was our first cruise and had been looking forward to it for such a long time. Overall we enjoyed it and ensured we had a good time. However, our experience was marred by poor service on a number of occasions along with indiscretions from two employees who were managers. Whilst the good old British class system is still alive and kicking, you don't expect it from the crew !!! The ...

We have done The Med before with Princess , but decided to do it again with Cunard and stay on for the following 2 cruises to Norway then The Balitc (all from/to Southampton). Embarkation at Southampton was the quickest ever. Each time she returned to Southampton we were able to keep the same cabin and dining time and table which made things very easy for us.We were on board a total of 5 ...

Cruising the Baltic with Queen Victoria

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Queen Victoria

If you’d like to cruise on the Baltic and visit some of its interesting ports, then a trip on the Queen Victoria may be just up your street. The Queen Victoria is basically a floating 5 star hotel. Designed with more American taste in mind (you are in state rooms - not cabins) - but if you ignore this, it is a very pleasant way to spend two weeks aboard ship. Like everything in life though, ...

Awesome Cruise

Expected a top of the line cruise and for the best part not dissapointed. On par with Celebrity cruises that we have done in the past. Having to dress up with a Jacket every night after 6pm got a little tiresome especially when it ruined a 20s Dress up night. If you love Ballroom dancing this is the cruise for you. Food is great even in the Buffet restaurant. The abundance of ...

Ship beautiful, crew fantastic, courteous, efficient, caring. Would book again... but excursions.... Oporto went on boat / wine making tour. 3 hrs. Guide extremely poor. Got to Port Wine making business for tour and waited 30 mins in dark reception. Weren’t aware we were coming! So didn’t let us in! Boat trip was rushed and guide on mobile all time trying to find another company to do wine ...

Good but room for improvement!

This was our first time with Cunard - they really do push their heritage but the reality is that they are not that different from other cruise lines - a lot of it is marketing hype! We ate in the Britannia restaurant - it could have been any 4 star cruise line - food was ok but nothing great and service was rushed and lacking in finesse. Cabin was standard cruise line layout, bed very ...

Good cruise but not quite 5*

We arrived around 11.30 and the terminal was already fairly busy. The bag drops are just outside the terminal building and split by deck number. It would have been useful if our e ticket had explained that in advance. Check in was fairly swift with 3 desks dedicated to grills passengers with a separate seating area after check in (though not particularly luxurious utilising the same seats as the ...

First experience on a Queen. Embarkation was easy The buffet was fabulous and varied The shows were wonderful The cabin was spacious and comfortable. Loved having a kettle with tea and coffee available. Wonderful pillows The alcohol was too expensive and prices were not properly listed. $27 for 2 glasses of wine and $10 for Scotch Getting off in Guernsey was horrific. Only 2 ...

Short Break

Once again we had a short, but excellent cruise on board Queen Victoria. The service throughout the ship was outstanding and the food to an excellent standard. We were told that this was a "party cruise" but having sailed for the first time the weekend previous on a Celebrity ship, they were in our opinion a million miles apart and it was refreshing to embark on a ship of such quality and ...
