Having cruised well over 15 times as a couple (and Cunard Carnival cruises) let's start by saying that the pursers office had a very negative attitude, both in person and on the phone. The cost of drinks is extortionate I.e. a bottle of wine £5-6 uk over £40 on the ship plus 15 percent. Cost to us well over £350. The food is adequate at best the fish clearly cooked in a toaster. It was afternoon tea in the elegant Queen’s Room that proved my undoing. As white-gloved waiters poured me my cup of piping hot tea and tempted me with scones and cream, I knew I had found my spiritual home. I was in heaven. And 12 days later I was six pounds heavier.

This is a very Beautiful Ship. If you like formalities this is the ship for you. There is a sense of traditional cruising about it. All in all it was a very enjoyable cruise. We ate in the Britannia Club Restaurant. The food was of a very high standard and the service was impeccable. The only down side was the cost of drinks which were very high.

First impressions were good. The cabin was nice and the food was good.

We booked a guarantee obstructed view cabin. Never again. We were allocated cabin 4076. This was right over the state of the Queen's ballroom. The noise started every night at eight and continued till half twelve. Loud base beat and music vibrated wall and floor. Only suitable if you like to stay up late.

We have cruised before on the Queen Mary 2 and it was wonderful. Friends told us the Queen Victoria was better and that is true.
