Princes cruise - Diamond Princess - Japan.
Nice spacious outside cabin as booked near the mid ships. We were a day+half late boarding due to Typhoon 18 and the cruise has been cut short because of that. However we are still going to Korsakov but have now discovered that we cannot go ashore unless on an organised trip. Not what it said on the Princess website. In addition we appear to be ...
We chose this cruise as part of a trip which included a mini tour around Japan. The ship was delayed by a day because of a typhoon, but this was no problem as we got to spend an extra day in Tokyo.
Embarkation was a bit of a nightmare as everyone had arrived at the same time and we had to wait ages for our number to be called. When we got to our cabin the bathroom hadn't been cleaned ...
A 5 day cruise round trip from Yokohama turned into a 6 day cruise with a 48 hour instead of the planned 6 hour stop over in Busan South Korea. This was due to Typhoon Talem. But we couldnt have been happier or more well looked after.
We boarded in great weather, and were very excited as a week before we have been emailed that we had been upgraded from our balcony room to a club class ...
Our cruise was Hokkaido and Kyushu, although we cruised around the south island, Kyushu, first and the north island, Hokkaido, second. We chose this cruise because of both timing and the itinerary. We have cruised several times with Princess and have noticed some things slipping. That said, we enjoyed the cruise overall. We began with 10 days on land on a guided tour ending in Tokyo. The Green ...
The Emirates flights from Glasgow to Dubai then on to Tokyo were very long and tiring. However, collection of our luggage, immigration and the transfer from Narita airport to the hotel went smoothly.
Iglu arranged for us to stay for three nights in the Garden Tower section of the very large and luxurious New Otani Hotel. Our thirty sixth floor room was beautifully appointed and had panoramic ...
This was a quick look at Japan with 3 days in Tokyo first. The Diamond Princess is very comfortable and looks beautiful but the layout can be confusing and we do prefer the smaller ships. Service was always friendly and efficient and, compared to other lines we have been on, EVERY crew member greeted us on passing. We found having the majority of the passengers being Japanese worked OK but the 2 ...
I chose this cruise because my friend was taking this cruise. Staff was excellent, food very good, excursions were expensive and disappointing. Paying to go ashore was a bother. Paying for water was ridiculous. The wifi was expensive and worked so-so. Some of my messages homes never made it. However, IT staff were helpful and pleasant. Our cabin steward was excellent and helpful.
The meals in ...
We Boarded the Diamond Princess in Yokohama ( be aware that Yokohama is about an hour south of Tokyo). The Yokohama port is lovely however be aware that the boarding process is different and caused a bit of confusion for most of us as there is little signage inside. They give you a number and you sit and wait - but that's before you clear immigration (not after) - once your paperwork is done you ...
We were happy right from the time we landed at Haneda Airport, the Staff on the Princess desk booked us onto the Shuttle to the Port, we were all given a boarding number, which was number 1, by time our shuttle arrived they were calling number 3, so we walk straight through to immigration, making embarking so very easy and one of the quickest we have experienced.
We were impressed with Diamond ...
We wanted a cruise that involved no more than 10 hours flying from Australia, and Japan fitted the bill. We chose Princess Line because of a referral from other members of the family. Found embarkation / disembarkation went smoothly and well organised. Loved the ship's public areas, food and entertainment. The cabin was fine although the shower was a bit small and we kept banging our arms on rails ...
