We were a family of three on the Diamond Princess from Sydney to New Zealand. We picked this cruise because it fits with our timeline and we booked late so it was one of the few ones left. FOOD/ STAFF: This is our first time on a Princess cruise and to be honest we have been pleasantly surprised! The facilities were excellent- was very happy with the outdoor pools and hot tubs. The Lotus ...

We always had the dream to go to Hobbiton, New Zealand as we are HUGE LOTR fans. We got that opportunity and see more by traveling on the Diamond Princess from Dec 19-Jan 1 from Sydney to Auckland on an 11 day cruise. From the start of the embarkation to the end of the cruise, we were treated with respect and care. The food was divine, the service was efficient and prompt, the staff was ...

Princess again

We are platinum and usually enjoy Princess. My biggest complaint is there is loud music everywhere. In the Theatre you can't hear the singing because of the bands too loud. Everyone is very helpful, but I must admit the standards have dropped. Hand washing should be enforced from day 1. Not wait until the virus has appeared. We don't use Shore excursions, out of our pricing. prefer local.Have done ...

Diamond Princess: my thoughts

We took this cruise as part of a group, so the ship & itinerary was not really our choice. Our last cruise was on the Celebrity Reflection, also for Christmas. I found the Diamond Princess (DP) to be a VERY small ship. The shopping was almost non existent and the atrium area was also VERY small and crowded. The DP seemed to show her age in the design and appointments. We had an inside cabin ...

Holiday Season Fun and Relaxation

We had previously done the 4 day cruise from Auckland to Sydney and wanted to experience a longer cruise onboard the Diamond Princess as we had enjoyed that, and chose the Xmas cruise for something a bit different. We were looking forward to relaxing by the pool and not have to worry about hosting Christmas! We stayed near Darling Harbour prior to embarkation, which had plenty to see there. ...

This was a 50th birthday cruise for a friend of ours. Our group consisted of 24 people various ages from 7 to 55. We had 10 young children and some young adults 4 and the rest were adults. The ship was fully booked with about 3300 passengers, however it is roomy enough that you did not notice how full it was. It has several enrichment activities such as Izumis but we did not partake in it. ...

Struggling to find the words to describe the joy of cruising with Princess

I struggle to find the words to describe the joy that my hubby and I found in cruising to Tasmania on the Diamond Princess. One of the reasons that we chose an 8 day cruise because we had not been on a large ship before and hubby gets sea sick. He did not on the Diamond! We also chose a balcony cabin because we knew the scenery would be amazing. We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary at ...

First time with Princes but not last from now on. It was only a eight nights one to Tasmania but fantastic service. From far the best over the last fifteen cruises we have made in this past five years with other companies even if we like very much Celebrity. We have been impressed by the impeccable service on board that says all. Polite, with a touch of class, helpful and with ...

Yokohama to Sydney WE LOVE SEA DAYS!

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Diamond Princess

We (DH, Mum and I) booked this as a repositioning cruise with minimal ports as we LOVE our sea days! Mum had an inside cabin D715 and we had an aft mini suite E721 Embarkation in Yokohama was quite smooth. Just had one gripe and that was when they were calling numbers we could not see or hear. We knew that something was being said but not what was being said. They really do need to ...

Relaxing - lots of sea days

Review for a Asia Cruise on Diamond Princess

Unfortunately, not a good start - flight from Melbourne cancelled but I was not worried because booked through Princess so knew all would be taken care of! Eventually got to Haneda Air Port and had to wait 3 + hours for prepaid Princess transfer to Cruise Terminal (some waited more than 5 hours) then another 75 minutes before actually boarding ship! After that, everything was pretty well ...
