The Good, the Bad, and the Truly Ugly

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Carnival Legend

This was our first cruise on Carnival Legend and in fairness, having only Celebrity Solstice to compare with, perhaps my impression is very coloured by my two previous cruises. The demographic was vastly different and this became quickly evident. OVERALL Apparently millions was spent on this ship to “Aussify” it for its first season in Australia. I honestly couldn’t see where, and the so-called ...

First time on Legend, previous on Spirit, so had an idea of what to expect. Overall mostly satisfied and mostly same as Spirit, but Spirit gets the nod mainly because of the live rock band Manila that played up on deck. Looking back at previous reviews shows that most people have similar views of the experience as myself, with small exceptions of course. Restaurants - only attended Truffles - I ...

My first ever posting and unfortunately it has to be negative one. After 5 previous cruises in the last 4 year with destinations as diverse as New Zealand, Asia and the Mediterranean. I feel reasonably qualified to comment on the quality of the cruise offered by Carnival. I will start with the positives. (This won’t take long.) The ship itself is comparable with other ships with the added ...

This was my 3rd cruise with Carnival Australia having cruised on the Spirit to the South pacific last year and also to Tasmania in February this year. I booked as soon as I got off the Spirit having a great time with my family again wanting to go to the South Pacific and trying out the Legend as soon as it arrived down under. We had been in an aft vista suite on the Spirit which was brilliant but ...

12 Australian P&O Cruises Rating 10/10

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Carnival Legend

The ship is very elaborately decorated and the staff are wonderfully well mannered and efficient, and the service and meals in Truffles are fantastic but that is about where the it all ends. The kids club or any of the entertainment is very poorly organised, and with P&O being a sister company you would think Carnival would have taken some clues from their approach to the Australian Traveler. Our ...

We have just returned from an 11 night cruise on Carnival Legend, and I have tried to put together an honest review of our trip. There was a very late change of itinerary due to Civil unrest in Wala, causing a change of ports from Wala and Santo to Lifou and Isle of Pines, and Carnival handled this well. Embarkation was quick and easy. Accommodation: We had a rear facing Balcony cabin, which was ...

Good and Bad

Good - The staff were great and our cabin was good. Our cabin steward Domingo was excellent. The staff at Truffles restaurant were great. And we loved their songs. Bad - The late dinner was enjoyable but by the time dinner was over and the staff finished singing most of the evening shows were already started. This was annoying because there was nowhere to sit except for the seats behind the ...

We embarked in Sydney with our daughter and husband and two kids. A very smooth embarkation process (better organised than princess) The cruise was to the Pacific for 12 days. We settled into our cabin after exploring the ship and having lunch in the buffet. After waiting till 7.00pm that night I contacted Guests Services to ask for my luggage. (everyone elses had been delivered). I was told they ...

We have just returned from 12 nights on board Carnival Legend on its first cruise out of Australia. We visited Noumea, Lifou, Port Denarau, Suva and Mare. Earlier this year we went to other Pacific Islands on the Carnival Spirit, which we absolutely loved and recommend. So how do they compare? Legend has just undergone a multi million dollar refit for the Australian Market which sees the ...

Most Horrible Cruise

Of the 28 cruises we have taken during our life, our cruise on Carnival Legend’s-23-Day Cruise August 30, 2014 to September 22, 2014 is the most horrible cruise ever. Specifically the Carnival Sales Rep mislead or lied about selling us an unobstructed balcony view knowing that the balcony view is obstructed. Apparently this bait and switch tactic worked before as Guest Cruise Service's Manager ...
