This was our third cruise to the Antarctica and our first ever cruise with Celebrity.
It started out badly when a week before our sailing date we received an email from the company advising that due to trouble with one of the ships thrusters and subsequent need to reduce cruising speeds the itinerary had to be changed. Accordingly the stop at Porto Madryn was dropped and the times and schedules ...
Very disappointing. Following several great experiences with Celebrity, this was a lifetime experience gone very bad. Celebrity communicated that the ship had propulsion issues and cancelled a port, with no option to cancel, less than a week before we left home. Then the first port of call got delayed by 2.5 hours pushing excursions into darkness, with no option to see the town, which according ...
This was to be our last continent to see - Antarctica, with stops in South America. We spent around $15,000 including airfare and excursions and a days stay in Buenos Aires before cruise. We had a balcony room in the concierge group. That was a joke to get this grouping. It afforded us to miss one long line in boarding. There were a few perks, but not nearly enough for the extra money. The ...
I would like to describe our (my wife and me) cruise experience in some details. I hope it helps people to select, or not, this specific cruise itinerary, cruise ship and even the cruise line for future trips.
Just a trip overview, we booked a veranda cabin, deck 8, in the Celebrity Infinity, for the Buenos Aires > Puerto Madryn > Ushuaia > Antartica (Paradise Bay and Elephant Island) > ...
Chose Antarctica as the trip of a lifetime. Was a totally awful experience :
1. Ship had only one azapod so 72 hours pre-departure we were informed the itinerary was changing as the ship was unable to travel at full speed. 14 day itinerary and we lost one of only four land stops. We are due compensation of 1/14th of the cruise cost but this has not been received yet. Worth noting that the ship ...
The ship has propulsion problems which led to a compromised itinerary with only 1 1/2 ports in 14 days. This was a problem cruise and we were not given the opportunity to cancel for a full refund prior to cruise. There was many many complaints on the ship and continue to be directly with Celebrity to which there has been little to no response. I am at a loss for words to describe how the company ...
We wanted to see Antarctica and some ports of call in South America and Mulvenas Is. This was offered by the cruise on CC Infinity.
Just before we left Celebrity cancelled Pt Madryn because the vessel was under-powered. What CC did not tell us was that Infinity had been operating for some time under-powered. The whole cruise ran late from the start and Celebrity knew that it would. it reached ...
We had heard great things about Antarctica from fellow cruisers on a Holland America ship, so we booked the January 21 sailing on Celebrity Infinity.
There were many good things to report.
- Antarctica was beautiful
- Great port lectures
- Staff was uniformly excellent
- Good food
- Enjoyable entertainment
The ship is somewhat tired. Not in bad shape, but a clear step down ...
As an Elite Captain's Club member on Celebrity Infinity's Antarctica cruise sailing January 22nd from Buenos Aires, I related my disappointment to the Concierge Mr. Hernandez in the Library on the 8th floor. He basically blew me off. I have already booked 4 cabins on a Celebrity Cruise in the Caribbean next February. I thinking we may need to cancel and change lines. I have not heard one word ...
1. Notified just a couple of days ahead of departure of propeller problems and that we would misse Port Madryn.
2. Into Ushuala Argentina extremely late 4:30pm and stayed to 2am--long after the town had closed down.
3. Missed Port Stanley. The day we should have arrived was a beautiful day and but the day we attempted to approach Port Stanley we were in purported to be "hurricane force" ...
