Our family finished a week on Explorer in Alaska on Friday. In June 2015 my wife and I along with another couple spent a week on Celebrity Solstice in Alaska, and our kids decided they wanted this year’s family vacation to be a cruise in Alaska. So it was decided - cruising Alaska two years in a row but on different boats that go out at the same time on almost the same route and this time with ...
I was so happy with this cruise! Boarding was easy and quick. I suggest getting to the terminal at about 10:30 am, because they put you in these taxi waiting lines. This has nothing to do with the cruise lines, it's a Seattle pier 91 thing. When it came to boarding the ship, everything went great!
Once onboard our stateroom was available by 1:30. We just hung out at Dizzy's and had a few ...
My husband and I went to Alaska on the Coral Princess in June of 2010. We decided to cone back and take extended family with us. We had 3 rooms - 2 mini suites and an indoor cabin across. The cabins were well appointed and slightly roomier than Princess. We really liked the balconies - they are somewhat enclosed relative to Celebrity or Princess and so were more comfortable to be out on.
I ...
This is our second time aboard Explorer, the first being in 2006. The ship is large, with a full schedule of activities from yoga to lectures and evening entertainment for adults and activities for kids. We were sailing to Alaska, which departed Seatlle and traveled to Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, BC. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves -- there was a main entertainer almost every night, though we ...
My family and I usually travel with Carnival and admittedly have gotten used to their way of doing things. Many of our friends travel with Royal and have offered that it is a better cruise line to travel with. We decided to give them a try for mine and my wife’s 30th wedding anniversary trip to Alaska. We had a good time, the scenery in Alaska was everything we expected and more; however, Royal ...
We enjoyed a great day in Seattle before the cruise including the Boeing Factory Tour, Pikes Place Market and the Space Needle. Uber is a great way to get around town and to the port. The port is chaotic and clearly not equipped to handle the big ships. Allow extra time for transportation, boarding and catching a flight home - and brace yourself for rude port workers. The ship is very nice and ...
We took a family trip to celebrate milestone birthdays. After having cruised with Royal Caribbean multiple times before, I was very disappointed in the ship/experience. There were lots of crowds and it felt very campy (theme nights, game shows, etc). There are more bars on this ship than food offerings. Royal Caribbean is now charging for lots of extra things and has eliminated a course from ...
Everyone was tellingvus that Alaska was their favorite cruise, so we knew we would get there..eventually!
Our chief obstacle was the distance from our home on the East coast. Finally, DH found some good flights and we made a plan. It was worth the wait. What a trip!
The Explorer was the ship we took for our first cruise. We like almost everything about it except walking past the casino, ...
This was our first cruise, and we had the time of our lives! We met lots of friendly, wonderful people, created terrific memories and can't wait till we can cruise again some day! We can't recommend Royal Caribbean highly enough. The staff were all so gracious, kind and simply outstanding. The food was excellent where ever we went, there was tons of things to do, the shows entertainment was ...
This was part of a Tripadeal tour which included a tour of National Parks and Las Vegas.Overall we felt that some things we average and some below average. The Crew were good but the food was average and sometime below average. We had My time Dinning which meant we were shifted around and sometimes the table selection was poor and so was the service. Entertainment on the main shows was good ...
