"I saw no one wiping down any of the handrails throughout the ship, nor did I ever see anyone applying new varnish to the moister-barren teak handrails on the outer decks…ever. The fare in the main dining room was also very, very good; lunch one day at the Chops steakhouse was absolutely fantastic...."Read More

1-10 of 114 Bahamas Independence of the Seas Bahamas Cruise Reviews
Cruise #6 with RCI since 2012. Cost cutting to pay the $11B in pandemic bond debt has really hurt the experience. Food quality and options have declined. Service is hit or miss, with MDR and Windjammer service noticeably worse. Nickel and Diming ($20-ing and $40-ing) for things that aren't worth paying for (e.g. $35 for the escape room, $2 to play skee ball for 30 seconds) -- even the teenagers ...
After exclusively sailing on Oasis Class ships for the previous 10 years I was concerned about going down to Freedom Class with a sailing on Independence. A quick look at the recent reviews here further confirmed that this would be the worst vacation of my life…
I’m very pleased to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and would absolutely sail on the Independence of the Seas again! Perhaps ...
We were part of the Cleveland Browns Fan Cruise Group on this cruise. We chose a Junior Suite on Deck 10 and were very pleased with it.
CABIN: A
Positives
Our steward, JR, was very funny and quite accommodating.
We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony for breakfast three of the five mornings.
There was more than enough space to store all of our items. I am pretty sure we ...
Ship was well kept for an older ship. Our balcony stateroom was clean and nice. The cabin attendant ( Virasami ) was the best we ever had. Hard working (even when not around our cabin ) attending to our every need, and anticipating our needs.
Food in the main dining room was ok. Our waiter Saka was accommodating to our needs and wants. Our head waiter Hans, was a character. Nice but over ...
Overall I loved this ship and the stops. This was my first cruise so I have nothing to base it of but I'm mostly satisfied.
The ship is absolutely beautiful and elegant throughout most of it, the rooms are a bit dated but still cozy and comfortable. The beds were alright , nothing to write home about but the pillows were good. I do wish they came with fans in each room it was bloody warm in ...
We booked this sort of last minute on a Black Friday special and got a great deal. For a ship & itinerary selected primarily on departure date, we were both surprised and pleased how nice the experience was. This ship is large enough to have a variety of activities and amenities, but not so huge to be able to get around. It is a bit older, and shows in some spots but most areas look nice. Very ...
TL;DR Our extended family of 13 (ages 2-77) took a five night cruise 12/28/23-1/2/24 on Independence of the Seas. Overall, we found the ship to be fun, the crew to be friendly and helpful, and dining to be adequate. Shows were good, (with one exception), and there always seemed to be something for most of us to do. Our biggest complaint would be issues with the release of information prior ...
I chose this cruise because of Splashaway Bay for my 7 year old and because the ship was going to CoCo Cay. This review is about some very specific items and excursion options.
1. Soda package. Pros: The cups are nice and we'll be able to continue using them at home. Discovered Peach Fanta! Easily the best Fanta now. And many options available. Cons: In retrospect, not worth the $10 a day. We ...
After previously sailing on the Symphony of the Seas, I thought this was going to be a let down for the family but we were pleasantly surprised. Although smaller in size and less things to do, we still enjoyed ourselves. The service and friendliness of the staff throughout the entire ship was top notch.
With a family of 5, we booked a junior suite and an interior room. Being an older ship, the ...
I have not taken a cruise for 20 years and so much has changed that I consider myself a first time cruiser. I went with my sister and while the staff was fantastic, I learned the hard way that you have to research everything you can think of before getting on board and you must read the fine print.
On the first day we stopped by the drink package table and the line was fairly long. Since I ...
