Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Koningsdam

We previously crossed the Atlantic on the Koningsdam (west to east) and so we returned 6 months later. Nothing much had changed since my last review so it was still an excellent cruise with one big improvement. The duelling pianists on this trip were Paulina & Ivy who were outstanding. The other entertainment was also of a high standard. The food was also very good. Our cabin stewards were again ...

My husband and I had always wanted to do a Transatlantic together and we were looking forward to sailing on HAL's newest ship. Many years ago I had crossed the Atlantic from New York to Le Havre on the United States and my husband, in his Navy days, had crossed the Pacific. Let me first say something about the sea worthiness of the ship and seamanship of the Captain and his crew. Our first day ...

We've sailed a number of times with Holland; the Oosterdam and were pleased. The Barcelona embarkation was easy and we went straight to our cabin. The ship is older but it was well maintained. Captain and Cruise Director Kelly were very good with plenty of information to share. MDR food and service were excellent with gourmet selections and presentations. Lido could have been better, i.e., ...

Thoughts from a first time cruiser

Have recently arrived back in Australia following the Viking Passage cruise on Zuiderdam. I was slightly anxious about a cruise of this length as our first cruise, but totally enjoyed the experience and my husband and I are already talking about where we will cruise next. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our stateroom - we had a large inside room on main deck and we would happily ...

Disappointing

We are definitely not going on HAL cruises again , neither recommending HAl to my friends. This cruise has been a big disappointment to us, and from what I've heard around, to other travelers, as well. The main reason for us to choose this cruise was its itinerary, but 3 out of the 10 stops were canceled. Sure one cannot fight weather conditions, but I do have my doubts about how necessary ...

All in all, this turned out to be a pretty good cruise. The itinerary got changed around a bit for a number of reasons. We had bad weather in the Labrador Sea which caused us to miss two port calls, also, on the way to St. John’s , we needed to double back and assist in the search efforts for a person who went missing from another cruise ship that was in our area so we missed that port and ...

Exceeded our expectations

Our cruise was 28 day, Transatlantic & Baltic itinerary. From boarding in Ft Lauderdale to leaving the ship in Copenhagen everything went well. The cabin stewards were attentive, the wait staff in both the Lido and MDR were exceptional. I'd like to say we ate in one of the alternative restaurants, however the food was so good in the MDR, we never felt the need to eat elsewhere. The music venues ...

Living the dream....

It was a transatlantic crossing that included a stop in Normandy, both Bucket List items. This was our second cruise on Holland America. The crossing was wonderful, calm seas and great weather. We enjoyed Beginner Bridge, the Art Auctions and the gym. We met wonderful people from all over the world, many who have cruised on Holland America exclusively. We took shore excursions in England and ...

Ship services were not ready after being in Dry Dock for 2 weeks.

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Oosterdam

We loved the itinerary and decided to book for this reason. We thought the ship was tired looking in any area that was not renovated by the time in Dry Dock. The new areas were beautiful but did not do justice to the fact that the ship was not ready. The pool was closed for the first 2 days out of port with painting and drilling going on. Shops were also closed. We had painting continuing for the ...

My husband and I had never been to Europe, so we chose this cruise to get a good "sample" of countries. The 8 days at sea sailing across the Atlantic were relaxing and a great way to start our trip. The Oosterdam is a beautiful, elegant ship. Our cabin was wonderful (see below). We loved all the ports except Huelva, Spain. If you dock there, you might want to take an excursion to ...
