Review for a Alaska Cruise on Westerdam

This Ship takes the Glacier Bay Park Tour. With it being first tour to Alaska, wanted to see the national park. Overall, the Cruise was very good. Embarkation and disembarking were smoothly run and most staff eager to make this happen. The food portions in the main dining room were small but you could get multiple items and we could tell the staff put efforts into presentation of the food ...

I was in charge of researching the cruise for everyone. The fact that Holland America's website was difficult to use and uninformative on specifics made it very tough. Here is some of the info I needed: The adults had adjoining balcony cabins at the very end of the ship. Loved the views (take binoculars). There are panels separating the balconies. The steward can lock open the end panel so ...

They made a very convincing advertisement for their cruise ship. They said it would be relaxing, but it was not. We wanted to relax, so I purchased their Couple's Massage worth $295.00. I knew it was overpriced, but then, I thought it would be indeed relaxing. I was really expecting a really good, relaxing massage , but it turned out to be irritating instead, for all I got was an oil ...

Do not go on this ship!!! But do go to Alaska!

Do not go on this ship!!! But do go to Alaska! This was a very poor experience, almost from day one. Before I start just let me say that I have been on about 10 cruses now with 5 different lines. The ship is outdated, and in need of a remodel, with that being said the ships décor was not why I was onboard, Alaska was. The problems were with food, billing, and lack of communication between ...

I love the sea and a cruise. This was number 14, and my third trip to Alaska. My first time was booked on Sitmar, to become Princess by the time we sailed, second on Princess, and my first time on Holland America. I decided to try Holland, as they promote a more "traditional" cruise. I believe they are. Some people will say the ship is "dated", nope, it is traditional. It is not filled ...

we choose this cruise based largely on date. we were a family of 8 ranging in age from 14 to 71. all enjoyed the cruise with a few complaints. the port schedule was off. not enough time in ketchican and not much to see in sitca . Holland America is geared for adults but a lot of kids on summer Alaskan cruise. not many activities for kids and teens. dinner was great and everyone liked buffet for ...

Westerdam to Alaska

We love cruising to Alaska and chose this cruise because it's easy for us to get to Seattle. We have cruised with HAL 3 times prior. We were unfortunate enough that our balcony stateroom was just above someone who was a prolific cigar smoker. That completely ruined our use of the balcony. The ship is showing some wear and tear. I was trapped in the elevator and was stuck until help arrived. ...

Our cruise to AK on the Westerdam (July 2016) was wonderful. Arrival: Embarking process was efficient. Our cabin was clean and ready to go when we arrived at noon. We used the luggage direct service and are glad we did! First day: Ship left on time, cruise staff was helpful and happy. Our room stewards were attentive, eager, and interested. Tips to first time cruisers: Learn ...

This was my husband's and my first cruise and we were filled with excitement and anticipation when we boarded. We are seniors who wanted a quiet experience, and some new landscapes to explore. I looked into the various cruise lines, narrowed them down as to destinations, price, amenities and the overall 'vibe' of the lines and the individual ships. We chose Holland America because it has a ...

Cruising in Alaska

I chose this cruise because it was an In Touch Ministries cruise. The entertainment and speakers were wonderful. Dr. Charles Stanley and Andy Stanley were very inspiring, and all of the singing groups were not only exceptional, but they were also very engaging when approached on the ship. The ship needs some repair. The fabric on the couch in our stateroom was worn, and the couch was not ...
