The HA Koningsdam was recommended by a frequent HA cruiser. It lived up to the recommendation in every respect. Well run ship. No surprises. The ship had 2700 passengers however we did not feel crowded. Vista suite room recommended. Disembarkation was flawless. Tamarind food was 100%+ but all of the food was good to great. Dutch cafe was a highlight for great drip coffee.

We chose Holland America because of their long experience in Alaska and were not disappointed. The scenery was as spectacular as we had hoped for and the ship docked in the most favourable berths at the three ports. The cruise director was both efficient and knowledgeable. The wildlife expert, Kurt, was highly approachable and available outside on the expansive open stern deck 9 whenever there ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary, especially Iceland and Greenland and because we have had 3 very good cruises with HAL in the past. There were many good features. Most of the ship has been beautifully refurbished, the food was good, staff very helpful and it seems a happy ship. Great itinerary, Iceland was brilliant, sunny and fantastic scenery. The sun really does shine at midnight in the ...
We were on this boat and the main reasons were to visit greenland and island. At first the good: the food we compare with celebrity and princess, hal is a little bit better. The speciality restaurants are not much better. The service in the pinnacle grill is arrogant and the maitre too and not friendly. The food was OK , there is the murano celebrity much better. Very good was the fitness trainer ...
This was our 10th cruise and 2nd with HAL and we couldn't have been happier. I must begin by saying we had amazing weather all week and did not see any rain which is rare for Alaska this time of year and this also contributed to our overall satisfaction. Even though the ship is a little older it is very well kept and the decor is very classy.
We did not do any specialty dining but ate all our ...
We love Holland America ships! The Koningsdam is perfect for a family cruise. There are so many things to do on this ship, and the staff keep it very clean. The staff do an excellent job in all areas; from information centre, to wait staff, to housecleaning. The entertainment is Las Vegas level! We really enjoyed the Step One Dance Company shows! We are not usually into dance shows, but they were ...
Originally we were going to take a cruise departing out of Victoria BC, however due to govt regulations (US), we had to switch all the money we had already paid (almost 8k) to a shorter 7day Alaskan cruise. They transferred it all no problem and there were no fees! We got an upgraded stateroom and the have it all package among a few other options.
Pro's:
- Service on the Eurodam is a very ...
My husband and I chose this cruise because we wanted one that left from our hometown, Vancouver, BC Canada. We'd gone to Alaska before with Celebrity and enjoyed that.
The ship was beautiful - food in the buffet, the pizza stand and the burger bar was really good. Our package including drinks and one meal at one of the extra payment restaurants. We chose Tamarind and were not ...
Just got home from an Alaskan cruise with our kids from 17-25 years old and our almost one year old grandson. It was absolutely wonderful. The things that bothered me were my own fault. Like wished I would have splurged for the premier photo shoot. But that's not what this is about.
Our connected Verandah rooms were in the prefect location midship on deck 5. Plenty of room in the ...
We went on this cruise to celebrate my mom and my husbands big mile stone birthdays! There was 6 from Canada and 12 from the US that went to Vancouver for this cruise. I have been on over 12 cruises the past 8 years all with NCL, Royal and Carnival. This will probably be my last with Holland America for a few reasons..
The good- The views on this Alaskan cruise were second to none! Living in ...
