This is my 12th cruise and was excited to cruise Holland America as we had heard and read positive things.
Ship: Average decor. The ship interior is very dark except in the crows nest.
Cabin was nice with plenty of storage. Cabin stewards were excellent.
I don't know much about stabilization, but this ship had a lot of movement. At night it felt like someone was jumping on the bed ...
Chose cruise for its itinerary. Hadn't sailed on Holland-America in many years but had concentrated on Celebrity and Princess for several cruises on each and were pleased with both of them. Oosterman proved a very pleasant surprise. Entire ship was in excellent condition. Excellent cabin for handicapped. Service personnel were also excellent. Most of entertainment was very good, especially ...
We took the 31 day cruise option (Nov 15-Dec 16 2023) - Fort Lauderdale to Buenos Aries with the express purpose of doing the Straits of Magellan. We have cruised HAL many times (we are 4 Star travelers) and have enjoyed every trip. This cruise was also a wonderful experience - except for the entertainment, will get to that in a moment.
We stayed in a Neptune Suite and it was as has always ...
We flew from London Heathrow to Miami 2 days before the cruise via British Airways. Flight was on time and very pleasant with great food and service onboard. On reaching Miami we were transferred to Tony Hotel on South Beach where we stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was art deco style and in an excellent location next to many bars and restaurants. We had a very pleasant stay in Miami and did a hop on ...
Captain Bas van Dreumel was at the helm on our cruise. You can always tell great management when the crew is happy and laughing, service is great and the ship is spotless. That was our experience on the Rotterdam. 5 stars is based on that experience alone. The itinerary included some ports that I will never return to, some food I didn't enjoy and entertainment that wasn't...but cruises are ...
I think the only minus about this cruise on the newest Holland America ship, Rotterdam, was that we aren't used to the majority of people being 70, 80 and even 90 years old. This was our first time sailing Holland America. Although that did make it a quieter cruise.
The food was really good in the main dining room, Dive in( best burger and fries ever), pizza place(great pizza), and the buffet. ...
We choose this cruise because of the ports of call. Two ports were changed prior to sailing but their email indicating a change went to SPAM, and we didn't find it until it was too late to change the trip.
We were really excited to go to Curaçao as well as Key West and Panama. Curaçao & Key West were canceled prior to the sailing, Panama was canceled the day before arrival. We were refunded ...
This was our third cruse on the Rotterdam and the best one yet. We were on the 21 day sailing in Neptune Suite which was absolutely beautiful. The balcony was so large it could be used as a dance floor. Our cabin attendants were excellent. They were there in the morning and evening and any time in between that we asked. They were friendly, polite and professional. They did an excellent job. ...
We have been on 45+ cruises and this ranked at the bottom. We requested a wheelchair assist and all that happened was we got shuffled through the regular access points. Finally we saw a wheelchair go by us. We asked about our assist and was told we were in the wrong waiting area. We eventually got a wheelchair up to the ship. We all agreed that the Cruise Director be demoted. Shows that people ...
The original itinerary was changed two months prior to departure for three ports and we were not allowed to exchange or get a refund. The embarkation was a nightmare. Long, long lines with people in walkers and wheelchairs waiting over an hour. The food quality in the main dining room was horrible. The Lido buffet constantly had long lines and wait times. The theatre entertainment consisted of ...
