Lovely downtime on the cruise but not much to do

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Eurodam

Oh the food was fabulous!!! and I really mean that, but the Eurodam needs more entertainment. The piano guys were excellent. We attended almost all their shows. Just because the clientele is older, they still want things to do. There wasn't much to do past 11 PM and really only one show at a time past 5 PM. We had a Veranda cabin and it was great. Nothing beats sitting on the balcony ...

My wife and her parents had experience with Holland America. I decided to travel with HAL's Zuiderdam on our honeymoon 10 years ago. Loved it so much we celebrated our 10th anniversary with HAL as well. I had been worried because of some of the negative reviews. But upon boarding the Eurodam I was quickly put at ease. Everything is just like I remember. A great ship, great service, great food, and ...

HAL definitely caters to more "mature" cruisers

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

I am currently 39 and was definitely one of the youngest people on board. I enjoy people who are older than me, but it seems that HAL really caters to the more mature clientele in the music, food, and activities. I am all for being classy and having standards, but you can do both without being stuffy or boring. The ship is beautiful, and the size of it is great. Our verandah cabin was 11002, ...

Positives: Service was excellent!! We arrived on the ship at 2pm, no lines and very smooth check in process. My husband and I loved our cabin, and our steward was exceptional. BB King's show was fabulous. The band and singers were great. Danced to great Soul and Jazz numbers each night. Comedy show had us laughing out loud. Very, very funny! Plyed to the age group in the audience. This was an ...

This ship was gorgeous! Clean, beautiful decor, flowers and art work made it seem like a 5 star hotel. Our cabin on deck 8 was conveniently located just one deck under the buffet and adult pool, but we didn't hear any noise . The crew was always quick to answer any requests and did it with a smile. There were two pools with the one being adults only having a more expansive open deck and the ...

First time on Holland - loved the service and the food. Traveled on RCCI and NCL past. NCL is new for us as well and we loved it. But I think NCL has now competition we want to go back on Holland. Crew so friendly and service so good. Many times they called us by name. At the buffet in the morning the lady who toasted the bagels saw me coming and put my bagel in the toaster. Asked if my ...

Love HAL. Love 3 week cruises. Would never do a cruise that comprised of 3, 1 week cruises again. Lived and learned was my choice. Love the 10 day and 11 days 3 week cruises. As usual Hal was the best for the food and the staff. We happened to get on with brand new first time staff. They were excellent. To see these kids grow in 3 weeks was amazing. kudos to HAL as always. Loved our ...

We had a great cruise. Holland was impressive with service and the ship condition. Definitely catered to an older crowd. Onboard activities were not as inclusive for a younger crowd but we still found some fun stuff to do. Cabin layout was nice. We enjoyed being able to move in the shower! Food was very good at all restaurant. The buffet was way better than on RCC. Clean and great ...

Wonderful cruise experience

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Zuiderdam

Overall we had an excellent time on this cruise. It was our first Holland America cruise and they did not disappoint. The ship is older (built in 2002), but it is in very good condition and obviously recently refurbished. It is not as big as the newer mega-ships, but we thought this was actually a good thing. Embarkation and disembarkation were both easy and relatively quick (probably waited ...

Old ship . . . NEW SHIP!

This was our sixth HAL cruise and it didn't disappoint, just like all the others. The ship is 16 years old, but I understand it has just returned from a re-fit in drydock. The interior looked brand-new. You coulda said the ship was 16 weeks old and I woulda believed it. It seemed everything was new - carpeting, furniture, facilities, new layouts of many public rooms. We were on an Alaska cruise ...
