Our last cruise with Holland America was about 12 years ago and we had not been back since because of their smoking policy. I had e mailed Holland America a few times asking when/if they were going to change the policy. They always declined stating smoking on balconies would remain. Therefore I declined Holland America and cruised on several different lines instead...especially liking Oceania ...
We have sailed with Holland America in the past and chose this cruise for the itinerary. it was my husband and myself. We are in our mid 40's and enjoy this cruise line because it's quiet with few children.
We chose a late hotel check out the day of embarkment and arrived at the port at 1. The process to check in at this time was less than 15 mins. There was no line at security or check in. The ...
This is our 11th cruise. We have sailed mostly with Royal caribbean. And some with carnival and celebrity. We choose this cruise because we were looking for good food, good service, relaxation and a few ports that we had not been too. This ship is decorated beautifully. Not gaudy but modern classic. The service on the ship was wonderful from the room stewards,to the servers in the specialty ...
We spent 2 days prior to the cruise in Ft. Lauderdale at the Hyatt Place on SE 10th Ave. We bought wine at Total Wine and a few groceries at Publix. Also took the Sun Trolley to the beach.
On the day of the cruise we left the hotel via taxi around 10:15am. We were able to get in the terminal and through security right away. We had 5 bottles of wine and expected to pay a corkage fee for 3 but ...
We heard that holland was the finest cruise line with the best destinations
Room staff were excellent!
Food quality was good, but slightly on the exquisite side, that being said it was presented extremely poor, cold food was served hot and hot food was served cold, wait staffed in fine dining was short on staff causing poor service, I don’t blame servers I blame mgt. several nights at dinner ...
Background: We're 57 and 62, cruised mostly on Celebrity and sometimes Princess. We've done the partial Panama Canal transit on Princess a few times and love the Canal experience. Schedule conflicts meant we couldn't cruise Celebrity this January, so we decided to try Holland America.
Pre-cruise: stayed one night at the Embassy Suites 17th St. using HHonors points. This is our usual pre-cruise ...
We are 3 star Mariners on HAL and this was our 9th (and shortest) cruise on various HAL ships and the 2nd on the Eurodam with a total of over 25 cruises on various lines. The positives about HAL are still there when it comes to the friendliness of the crew and clean public areas and cabins. But differences from previous cruises on HAL mentioned by other reviewers are now very obvious.

this cruise was great i read a lot of reviews saying this cruise was for seniors well since i am close to a senior i am ok with this :) but it was for all ages from what i seen . embarking was a quick got there at 1130 was on the ship by 100 the room was ready when we got on. the only thing that i found was that the dining was stuffy everyone dressed up ,i have no problem with that but i found ...
10 day Panama Canal cruise
Good:
- Housekeeping services. Cordial and kept the room clean and neat. Every time we came back to the room, the bed was made. Every evening they left a nice towel animal.
- Ice cream. The ice cream staff is very friendly, and they offer a good selection of ice creams and toppings.
- French Fries. They are crispy and freshly cooked. Sadly, this was the ...
We chose this Panama Canal cruise because it traversed the "Old Gatun Locks" and were able to get an aft balcony cabin. Here is our honest review:
