First of all the veranda cabin was much smaller than on other ships and the great bedding that all HAL customers are used to no longer exists. Instead there is a narrow mattress of twigs, bamboo and leaves (my interpretation) which crackled when you sat on it or during the night when you turned around on it or when you or your significant other left for the bathroom. We have sailed with HAL 3 times previously and enjoyed our cruise. This was different. 10 Day Southern Caribbean.

Excursion in Jamaica: Ragge Hill was horrid!!! Do not waste your money. Almost felt "captive" during this excursion. Holland refunded our money. We also had a bad experience on our 1st Gala Night, but the staff made our 2nd Gala Night exceptional!!! The best time was in Half Moon Cay, fantastic time on the beautiful beach. We chose this cruise for price and we have cruised Holland America a number of times and we like the product .
Food was good the entertainment was good . We liked the Half Moon Cay stop , great beach day . Food was a little funky , every burger or hot dog covered in some kind of sauce . Holland America staff is still fabulous . Bar staff at the pinnacle bar , Rickey was great .

The Nieuw Amsterdam is a beautiful ship. I was impressed immediately upon boarding.
