I have been on 86 cruises in 35 years (I am not 50 yet - I started young!). My very first cruise was on the old Rotterdam with my grandparents. I've spent a total of 38 days onboard Holland America. To say it isn't how I remember it would be a major understatement. I talked my partner and and also my best friend from high school into trying Holland America. I went on and on about how nice it ...

San Diego - Vancouver (our first cruise)

This was our introduction to cruising, and we booked through a local Pacific NW travel agency. The deal seemed pretty good: about $1000 for two of us, including airfare from Seattle to San Diego, transfers from the airport to the pier, an upgraded stateroom with a veranda, and a chartered bus back from Vancouver to Seattle at the end of the trip. Check-in at the pier was completely painless. We ...

Well, I did this once and CC sent it back as it was one big paragraph. Let's try again as I really have something to say. I have read reviews on this cruise that were negative coming from the San Diego group that got on for 4 days for $199 ...... well, we were on this ship for the entire duration and you'll our reviews are 5 stars. First of all, embarkation in Ft. Lauderdale was so organized and ...

Another Dam Cruise

My wife and I, both in our mid (or later) seventies, had nothing except fond memories of HAL from our trip on the Rotterdam's final crossing before becoming the Rembrandt in 1998. In booking the Oosterdam for our 53rd anniversary, we imagined we would recapture these memories. We were mistaken. Holland America is supposed to cater to the elderly traveller, of whom we certainly are, so when people ...

We are from Victoria so this was a quick get-a-way as our next cruise is not to next year. Caught the 09:00 Ferry arriving at CruisePark about 11:30 Ryndam and Carnival Spirit in dock Canada Place as well. The lines for security were extremely long but because my wife was in a wheelchair we were escorted through a special line and Check in for S Suites we were onboard in 15 minutes from terminal ...

We booked the 3-night Pacific Coastal cruise from Vancouver BC to Victoria BC, Astoria, Oregon, and back to Seattle. We live in Astoria, so that was one of the reasons for taking this particular itinerary. This is the second time we've done this cruise, both times on Oosterdam. This was our 17th cruise, second for HAL. We've sailed with Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America. ...

Great First Cruise

My wife and I were looking forward to our first cruise. We got all sorts of advise from all sorts of folks. Of course, everyone had a different opinion. We took the advice of my elderly cousins that said HAL was the best line out there based on their 45 years of cruising. Given they've been all over the world, we felt comfortable giving HAL a shot. We booked via their website. It was about 45 ...

This was our first cruise out of San Diego, and our 5th cruise with Holland America. Firstly, it was an absolute pleasure to sail from San Diego. The pier is a quick 1.5 miles from the airport, and Hertz shuttled us over at no cost. San Diego is a great place to explore, and next time I will schedule more time, but for this trip it was in the night before the cruise. I will start this review ...

Westerdam - Pacific Coastal

Review for a British Columbia Cruise on Westerdam

Some people refer to these coastals as 1-3 day "Booze Cruises" and I'm here to debunk that. Here's my recap (long overdue) of my Westerdam 1 day and if you have any Q's, PLEASE email me. I'll be happy to answer. ***** I've been on 2 1-Day coastals and have a 1 day and 2 3-day cruises set for this year. I not only think they're a blast but would hope that the fact I'm going on 5 within 2 years ...
