Overall, a great trip, would highly recommend. We enjoyed the new features of the Koningsdam - same HAL experience for us.
Embarkation: went very smoothly – was in our room by noon. No waiting at all.

HAL's flagship suppose to be stunning, but I agree with previous reviews which mentioned "...more of the Carnival Ship's ambiance rather than a true HAL".

We were told the ship would accommodate our needs. Had Neptune "handicapped" suite. Had no assistance boarding ship, getting off at all ports, and leaving the ship when returned to Amsterdam. To start with we were very happy with the overall feel and amenities of the ship. Staff outstanding as usual and the layout and shows are great. The cooking shows were the best! The entertainment is better than any of the other cruise ships from HAL we have been on.

We chose this cruise because it went above the Arctic Circle and in fact, the ship gave us a certificate confirming such. We had a handicapped cabin which worked out great...a bit larger than most to accommodate a wheel chair. Highlight was Honningsvag and North Cape. This was our trip of the year for my DW me. 55 and 65. We cruise often but are more laid back and less demanding than other. One thing we enjoyed about this cruise was the age groups 50 -80. The lack of children was a big plus for us.
I was very uncomfortable believing that the smoking would be an issue but I found next to none in the casino and only a whiff on my balcony.
