Cabin was to the mid rear area of the ship, in a quiet area of the vessel. Balcony was a little smaller than other cabins we have been in, but found the room size to be fine for us. Being close to the elevators and stairs made it easy to get from deck to deck, especially to the pool deck and Windjammer! Carpets and furniture is now getting a little worn, so the company does need to look at that but overall we enjoyed the cabin on this deck and location. Read entire member review >>
This deck ten cabin was a bit squashy for 3 with the sofa bed made up. It was clean with plenty of storage. It had USA electrical outlets so take a converter for hair straighteners and phone charging. It was directly under the Windjammer and we heard no noise. It was handy for using the stairs. Great aft cabin with lots of room, adequate closet space, and recently updated. Furnishings were new but very basic and the bed was comfortable. We loved being able to watch the wake from our large aft balcony. Read entire member review >>
Great cabin! It says "obstructed view" but its not really. This ship has beams in between the floors but b/c you are on Deck 10, there is no upper beam. The balconies below us may have had a little obstruction. Read entire member review >>
Cabin was heaps big enough for us two adults as was the bathroom and the bed was comfortable. The wardrobe was big enough to fit all our clothes and it was great that I could get more coat hangers for my clothes. Nothing stayed in our suit cases. There were also enough drawers for our t-shirts, shorts Anne other wears that couldn't be hung up. The cabin always smelled fresh and was clean and fresh linen and towels. This is a nice cabin, larger than a few other ships we have sailed, new carpet, flat screen TV a decent bathroom with shower with rounded closing doors that was excellent. There was plenty storage for all our clothes and other things and case was then dispatched under the bed which was handy as it does not clutter the room. My wife was a little disappointed with the toiletries supplied in comparison to previous cruises with other companies. Also no bath robes was a first on this cruise. Cabin steward first rate and very helpful, he always had time for you too. Read entire member review >>
We stayed in cabin 1668 which is a standard D1 cabin. The room was in overall good shape with minor wear in tear in the carpets and bathroom. We experienced some flooding on our bathroom floor due to a clogged drain which was fixed quickly by maintenance. The room was very quiet and was updated with a flat screen television. If you enjoy watching some TV during downtime unfortunately Explorer offers only a handful of popular networks. The room air conditioning was cold, the shower condition was clean and got very warm and all of the features of the room were in working order. Read entire member review >>
Did not care for the Cut-out railing. You have to stand up to see out/over the rail. Makes the small cabin feel closed-in and darker compared to the balconies on the upper decks. Read entire member review >>
Not sure why this is rated a D1 other than to charge more money for the connecting staterooms. Fairly quiet, although a trip to get to some parts of the ship. Closet door had broken hardware or maybe 6676?, issues with toilet but were called in by stateroom attendant before we could call. Some wear in room- light stains on couch in one of the rooms. Room attendant was efficient and made towel animals everyday after the first night, which my daughter appreciated. If I had it to do over again, I'd book an aft balcony and one inside- baby needed a pack and play and we could have fit easily in a 3 birth cabin, the second cabin was just because it was cheaper than booking everyone in the same room. Excellent room configuration with lots of storage. Very dated décor with failing shower head and doors, stained bathroom countertops, sinks, toilet, etc. Broken telephone and TV remote. I had to move the couch one day to find something that fell behind it and I don't think it had been clean back there since installation. The good news is the ship goes in for refurbishment this next Spring...I hope they do the staterooms. Read entire member review >>
Our cabin was very clean and space enough for 3 adults, loved our balcony. However it was the last room on port side deck 10 so we walked a lot . It wasn't close to elevators. I don't think I'll pick that area . The deck was good . Read entire member review >>
8690 was nice -- port side corner-aft with very clear view of the port side sights, with a decent but somewhat obstructed view through other balconies to starboard-side sights. Sailing out of Cape Liberty we had a decent but distant view of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. The balcony door is a little fidgety, it takes a bit of strength to unlock the deadbolt, which the room attendant locked every time he served the room. Toward the end of our cruise the AC wasn't working; a maintenance man came and in short order had it back to cooling again. Being at the very end of the corridor there is virtually no noise from the corridor but of course it's a long walk to the elevators and stairs. On this cruise (Aug-Sep 2014) the entire deck 8 port side corridor, front to back, had a moldy smell while the starboard side corridor did not have this problem. Read entire member review >>
Tiny interior cabin, but what else is new? This room has two fold-down cots. As of January 2014, it also has an old tube-tv instead of a flat panel, which will only make your room feel smaller. Read entire member review >>
Our balcony room was spacious and always kept immaculate. There was plenty of room in the closet and under the bed storage. Also, the vanity area had little nooks and crannies to keep smaller items in. The safe was easy to utilize. Mini bar stocked, but room for your own items, such as a small carton of milk and a plate of fruit from room service. Read entire member review >>
Cabin #7378. Very quiet, not too far from elevators. Good location to get to restaurants. Refrigerator not working. Toilet bowl badly marred from years of use. In good condition otherwise. Read entire member review >>
Room was tiny for 4 people, towards back of ship. We experienced rocky waters and high winds traveling to and from our destination. I could feel every movement in this room. Read entire member review >>
8228.Our room was somewhat small, but this is a cabin, not a hotel room! It was perfect for the two of us. Our stateroom attendent was amazing! Our room was always cleaned whenever we stepped out. There was really no where to put your luggage being that you do use all of the closet and drawers if you are a heavy packer like myself. There is a refrigerator. The balcony was amazing! Beautiful for when you arrive and leave the ports of call! The bathroom was tiny, but again it's not a hotel room.Overall, you are on a cruise you are not supposed to be in your room! We were a party of 3 in a Deck #9, D-1 cabin. The truly worst part of this cruise was the sofa bed. We each took a turn, it was that awful. First off, there is no way to tuck in bed linen and after a couple of turns, your shoulders and feet stick out and everything else is bunched around your waist. There is very little padding and it is impossible to describe trying to get to sleep, let alone staying asleep. Our cabin steward, Ronald, got us extra comforters and I hear that passengers do get off at first opportunity and buy egg crate mattresses. This is disgraceful and nowhere near what RCCL should be providing. Otherwise, the cabin was perfectly fine. Our many bags all fit under the bed, the beds were comfortable and I liked the bed linen, especially the comforters a lot. I am happy to see there are no more bed spreads, just the symbolic strip across the bottom of the bed during the day. One more first, my usually reliable electric digital clock went completely haywire and did not keep accurate time throughout the cruise. Read entire member review >>
The balcony suck. When sitting in a chair the railing is at eye level with only a foot of glass (which was dirty and stained the whole cruise) below that and then metal the rest of the way to the deck. Aside from the peeling paint and rust you had to stand up to see out. The room had adequate storage and bed was confortable. The TV rarely had reception which was annoying. Bed vibrated entire cruise, air conditioning poor, furniture all nicked, coach stained, small shower felt like I was in an iron lung, could not drop anything and pick it up. TV remote had all numbers wore off and TV kept shutting off. Two people could not be in the same area at the same time. Cabin space small I think the closet was larger than the bathroom. Did have enough storage space. Beds were not comfortable, could use new mattresses and new furniture. All in all very disappointed for what it cost. Read entire member review >>
The stern cabins were noisy with the creaking of the ship in the rough seas but the motion was not too bad. It is always a long walk from these cabins.
The room was big enough for three in one room and four in the other.

Since we know the ship we picked our balcony room on the 8th deck aft several rooms from the elevator. The cabin has adequate closet and drawer space especially since empty suitcases will fit under the bed.I leave a lot our clothes on hangers when I pack.Good thing since there would never be enough in the cabin closet and I don't over pack. This location is also above the dining rooms,an easy elevator ride to diner. The cabin was always clean but needs some spot cleaning on the carpet and sofa. The balcony this trip was very private since we had metal walls on both sides. Anyway, our cabin, 7288 was the perfect location---center of the ship for stability, yet closer to the aft which is where all the dining areas are, the computer room, and library, plus 5 out of 6 ports opened in the aft of the ship. Susan from Trinidad, our Room Attendant was superb! Read entire member review >>
Loved the balcony, but you're not going to put more than 2 people at a time out there. Room was fine until the sofa bed is open, then it was crowded for the 4 of us (2 adults and a 9 and 13-yr-old). For our next cruise, we've booked two adjoining interior cabins to remedy the situation (but yeah, we're anxious to go again, so it couldn't have been that bad). Read entire member review >>
This room was forward, about 4 rooms from the elevators. Hallways were always quiet, and never had any noise disturbance. There was a service closet and service stairs/elevators across from our room, but never had any issues. The doors were usually closed, and never heard any noise.Balcony was nice. Room included a safe. Excellent design for space utilization. Huge closet. Old TV set not a clear picture. New linens were a place. Sheets felt like 600 thread count. Always hot water. Toilet area always had a bad smell like an outhouse. They cleaned it daily, but didn't help. Read entire member review >>
We had cabin 1364. It had plenty of room. We enjoyed being on deck 10. The only issue was the people next to us were smokers, and that sometimes traveled from their balcony to ours. The bathroom was a good size. Plenty of storage everywhere. Read entire member review >>
The distance from the elevators was pretty good. We liked being aft as it was easy to get to everything we were interested in. Our balcony was all steel and in the past we had one that had glass panels, liked the glass better. Speaking of glass, RCI should do away with the glass topped tables. They are shin knockers of the worst sort. I wish I had thought to put it out on the balcony... Read entire member review >>
Very far aft, so a long walk to everything. I liked the partially enclosed balcony. Has connecting door.
Sofa bed should not be called a bed - too hard to sleep on, and design takes up way too much space in room. Read entire member review >>
