First time on Cunard, and a Trans-Atlantic as well!

This cruise was a bucket list for my DH, as I prefer ports and warmer weather. He had hopes of all things British and the ship did not disappoint. He enjoyed high tea and great conversations with our fellow passengers, many who were from the UK. I enjoyed it as well, especially the Cunard Insight's talks. One speaker was a Forensic Medical Examiner and he was fantastic! Every day, there was a ...

I think this was my last Cunard voyage.

I chose this Crossing because it was Cunard's annual Crossing with the British National Orchestra. At Southampton, I stayed on the ship and went to northern Norway and back for another 13 days on the ship. So, I was on board the QM2 for 20 days as a solo traveler. I was in a different stateroom for the Norway portion of my journey. This Crossing with the orchestra was memorable, and I am glad ...

Awful and Appalling Service so far

Had a cruise credit to use up. Was given a promotion to include drinks up to 12 USD for bars and room service. Room service last night refused to service an order for a Diet Coke. Asked the steward. Another refusal. Grills concierge at about 9 am promised a refrigerator supply of the soda. 11 45. No soda. Asked to see food and beverage coordinator. I would have brought on soda (and soap - see ...

Reports of QM2’s demise are very premature. It’s not tatty, it’s not falling apart. An odd bit of rust, but the interior looks stunning and in good nick. Sailed Queens Grill so comments may not apply to other cabins. Cabin was lovely. I think PG cabin would be fine next time. The butler and his assistant were fantastic, as was the standard of service everywhere (May be a touch slow in the ...

Not as good as expected...

Interesting to read other recent reviews - our experiences were very similar. It wasn't a bad cruise and there were highlights - we enjoyed our cabin and the housekeeper was generally good - but otherwise we left thinking that we wouldn't rush back to Cunard. Service was our biggest gripe- Britannia restaurant was very hit and miss - one head waiter actually told me off loudly for sitting at a ...

Atlantic Covid Cruise

Covid is alive and well on Cunard cruises. We came prepared with our Covid documents, which were not checked during embarkation. No Covid protocols were followed on board. By day 2 of the cruise we both came down with Covid and were quarantined for the remainder of the 7 day voyage. We were allowed to select from three food options for in-room dining and were unable to experience any of the ...

People complaining about QM2 must be looking for problems. Loved everything about our trip, food was great, service was 1st class. Mostly ate in Britannia Club but did also use Golden Lion and Kings buffet sometimes. Good choice of food for for every meal, food was very good and staff very attentive. Bar staff very good in every bar we had been in from Commodore to G32. Good choice of ...

The Queen Mary II is a elegant old bird with a few creaks and quirks.

The two of us would not normally chose to book on a Carnival ship line because of their nickel and dime business model. But their transatlantic service is a Cunard specialty and, if you have the time, cruising is at least as plush as a business class flight and at about the same price. We’d recommend it for that reason alone. We were in a Britannia Club cabin meaning we ate in the Britannia ...

CUNARD is CUNARD is CUNARD

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Okay, first things first - the very worst embarkation experience in 40 years of cruising. Brooklyn's Red Hook terminal is small, over-crowds easily, and was understaffed. We stood on line for two solid hours. Horrible. Regarding my title, please leave behind any ideas of 21st century cruising. Cunard is firmly rooted in a prior age - and that is good and bad - depending on expectations. ...
