We choose QM2 and Queen's Grill as the way to come back to the USA from a trip to Britain. We choose Queen's Grill to sample the experience.
Over all it was a great cruise. The food was exceptional. However, the Queen's Grill dinning area was too crowded. The table side service cart was often pinched between two of the tables. The noise level, due to crowding was also higher than expected. ...
A lovely liner but it took us nearly 7 days to find our way around. Some of the public rooms are badly placed and access is not easily found. The presentations and entertainment were excellent which helped pass the time away when crossing the Atlantic. An observation also was that the public toilets were not clearly marked and hard to find. A great experience to travel on this beautiful liner. ...
we crossed on the QM2 a few yrs ago, after doing a transatlantic to Europe on another line.
We did the same thing this year. Think of this ship as merely a way to avoid flying and cheaper than a business class ticket. Our balcony was well liked by us and our steward did a great job. The ship looked fine, public rooms in good shape, etc. it is just that the configuration of the decks are a ...
Ship beautiful, crew fantastic, courteous, efficient, caring.
Would book again... but excursions.... Oporto went on boat / wine making tour. 3 hrs. Guide extremely poor. Got to Port Wine making business for tour and waited 30 mins in dark reception. Weren’t aware we were coming! So didn’t let us in!
Boat trip was rushed and guide on mobile all time trying to find another company to do wine ...
This was our first time with Cunard - they really do push their heritage but the reality is that they are not that different from other cruise lines - a lot of it is marketing hype!
We ate in the Britannia restaurant - it could have been any 4 star cruise line - food was ok but nothing great and service was rushed and lacking in finesse.
Cabin was standard cruise line layout, bed very ...
Been on 7 Cunard cruises now and enjoyed them greatly with a couple of minor exceptions. This was our first on QM2 and we were excited as she is Cunard's Flagship. However, we did not feel the on board experience was up to the usual Cunard standard. Good points, the cabin (12001) was lovely, seemed a little larger than same grade on the other ships. General ship interior is very nice, light ...
The Itinerary appealed to us. The voyage was memorable for many reasons. The food and entertainment were excellent, and we loved the decor and atmosphere on board. The crew, stewards and waiters were unfailingly helpful and the Pursers desk provided very good service. Our stateroom was well set-out and the facilities there were good. We only took one tour, through Athens, but found the information ...
This cruise had a good itinerary with plenty of stops in great places. My wife and I travelled in Princess Grill accommodation which was adequate ( this was our 31st cruise nearly all Cunard). We elected to avoid the Princess Grill dining room altogether and enjoyed buffet service in the Lido.. Now bearing in mind that cruising seems to be all about dining and its experience we definitely were ...
The marketing for the Queens Grill makes all sorts of promises of excellence. This includes exclusive butler service that’s helpful, anticipatory, and will elevate your trip. Promotional videos show smiling butlers saying that they love going above and beyond for guests, and even get a kick out of being challenged with special requests.
To borrow a very British expression: bullocks!
To stay ...
Friends have travelled on Cunard ships and recommended them, also sailing from Southampton fitted in with our life.
Have cruised before on two P&O ships so know the routine. Firstly check in was so easy, eating lunch just after 1pm, everything was so smooth. Cabin was on deck 4 aft, lovely and spacious and quiet (even though many people told us midships is the best) have found no difference in ...
