We chose this cruise to the Canary Islands in November in order to enjoy the last of the sun without flying. We thought the amenities and entertainments on this great ship were outstandingly good. Our accommodation was also excellent, but so it should have been in the most expensive category.
We found the best food in the no-frills Lido buffet although the service and ambience of the ...
Having been on the QM2 previously in 2013 for a Canaries cruise and realising they had fairly recently Remastered her in 2016, we were keen to get back on board and savour her replenished splendid Character.
CPS took the car as usual and being a rather dreary day its always so nice to just hand over the keys and leave the car in their hands and watch the luggage disappear into the building ...
Various friends who had made the transatlantic crossing in the past assured us we would have a fabulous time on the QM2. We didn't.
The service in the Britannia restaurant was fine but the food was not anywhere near as good as other cruise lines, Celebrity in particular. Tough steak, erratic portion control......The sommelier (who was efficient and courteous ) obviously had too many ...
Just for reference, we have done 16 previous cruises on 6 different lines, none on Cunard. This time we did Hamburg - Southampton - New York. It was, in short, a wonderful crossing. Why did we wait so long to try Cunard? Boarding in Hamburg was dreadful, great long line-ups. We were afraid it would be downhill from there but the exact opposite was true. The ship is gorgeous and luxurious and ...
Getting on board in Southhampton was a breeze.
Ship is beautifully decorated. The ship’s library was huge, with more books than some schools’ libraries. Our stateroom (with balcony) seemed slightly larger than similar rooms we’ve had while cruising.
Dining room meals were varied and creative, with some occasional misses. Lunch buffets were very good; breakfast could use some ...
Though Cunard are not the cheapest, the whole experience was slick and smooth. We booked a Britannia balcony cabin, with coach transfer as part of the deal. Excellent coach to Southampton with two stops on the way. Arrived on time and in cabin within 30mins.
We chose earlyt dining (6.30pm) on table of 8 and had good company - we moved round the table as the cruise progressed. Formal dress ...
We wanted a luxury ship for an 80th birthday celebration with an interesting itinerary and that’s what we got. We were in a Balcony cabin mid ships and we were able to enjoy room service breakfast on our balcony before excursions. The Britannia restaurant was excellent and all our meals were delicious apart from a tough piece of meat early in the cruise, but when I mentioned this to the head ...
First cruise and chose a mini one to see if I would enjoy life on sea. Upgraded to a Princess Suite which was a lovely surprise. Large spacious room with sofa and coffee table. Fridge stocked with non alcholic and alcholic drinks. Large bottle of water $5 and beers $6. So not cheap. Service added on top. Bathroom had Penhaligion's toiletries which was a nice touch. Dressing gowns, slippers, ...
This was our sixth cruise on Cunard, but the first time we tried the Princess Grill category. We had the promotion that offered pre-paid gratuities, $800 on board spending money, and free drinks (under $12). When you deduct the value of these benefits from the price of a P1 category cabin, it wasn't all that much more than a regular balcony cabin For some reason, this category on this cruise was ...
This was a tester cruise. I thought I would start with my perception of the best. Not sure that was true. There were some disappointing features generally and other passengers I spoke with did feel the service decreased over the weekend of the short cruise. They had been on the ship for a longer cruise running into the short cruise. The food was not as good as we had hoped. It was definitely 3 ...
