This was our sixth sailing on the Summit. This was the last week before her 2 week dry dock. The ship was in excellent shape, always clean. The food in the MDR and the Oceanview Cafe some of the best we have had on a cruise. Everyone on the ship went out of their way to be welcoming, personable, helpful, friendly. You were given the impression that they were so glad to have us onboard. Captain ...
This was our 4th Celebrity Cruise, and the biggest disappointment in Celebrity. San Juan was great and boarding was a breeze. Because of our wonderful previous experiences with Celebrity, we recruited 10 friends and family members to travel with us. One couple won't be back at all, much to our embarrassment after raving about Celebrity cruises. Customers shouldn't be shortchanged just because it ...
This was our second cruise on the Summit. The first time was also two weeks before it went into drydock. We flew in two days before the cruise, and stayed in a small hotel in the middle of Old San Juan. We had a nice time exploring the forts and the town.
This time, we were in Aqua Class, in cabin 1100. We didn't see much of our steward, but when we needed something, we were able to find ...
This was a wonderful cruise.
We flew in a day ahead to Tampa, then the next morning to San Juan. The Taxi was $28 US for 2 adults with luggage. Check in was easy. They had duty free shopping before you got on the ship with a good selection.
Firstly, the ship. I would give it a 5 but did not only because I do like the Solstice ships slightly more and would keep that rating for a 5. ...
This was our 2nd time on Summit out of San Juan---different ports of call. We really like sailing from San Juan because the embarkation port becomes part of the vacation. Embarkation was very smooth and quick. The only jarring note was on entrance to the ship and receiving the glass of champagne, we were met by the sounds of rap/hip hop from the pink-haired dj stationed by the atrium. What ...
My wife and I are rather plain, ordinary people; we're both about sixty years of age - she works in a Library and I drive Taxi. Our house is paid for and our three children have "flown the coup", so we enjoy Cruising the Caribbean for two weeks in the middle of our Canadian Winter. This was our fifth time sailing out of San Juan, Puerto Rico - it's closer to the islands we wish to visit and ...
Wife booked Summit on a great deal 123 package in Aqua class. I was a bit apprehensive about going on an older ship, but liked the itinerary. Boarding was quick and easy. Our cabin was ready shortly after we boarded at 12:30. Sure the Summit shows her age here and there, but overall condition of the ship was clean and well kept. My main peeve was filthy salt stained window at the central ...
The following are some of our experiences and observations from the January 30 sailing on the Celebrity Summit out of San Juan, Puerto Rico; the itinerary included stops at the ports of Tortola, Dominica, Martinique, St. Kitts and St. Thomas. For my wife and I, this was our 22nd cruise, 4th on Celebrity and 3rd on the Summit.
A few days before the departure, we were offered an upgrade from our ...
Off the 1/23/16 So, Carribean cruise. Couple, age 50, first time on X. Prior RCL, NCL and Disney. The Summit delivered in fine fashion on this port-intensive cruise. Here's some overall observations:
Overall Impressions: Tended to be an "older crowd" but not exclusively. Few families and kids programs but time of year was not family cruising. MDR food was the best we have had on a cruise, but ...
Celebrity is our favorite cruise line and we always enjoy ourselves. It markets to the active over "40" crowd. Unlike Holland-America which we've found to be kind of an old age home for cruisers, this line is about right for us. The only problem i have with the Summit is that it is a revamped Millennium class vessel. In other words, we always have an AquaClass cabin which was easy to convert, ...
