We are "Elite" CCL cruisers and have cruised on all the Solstice class ships as well as on the Summit; we always book Aqua class cabins. While the ship is spectacular with terrific food, service, and style, the IV cabins are a disaster and, because of them, we won't sail on an Edge class ship ever again. Our concept of a veranda cabin is when we can keep our cabin cool and dry but step out onto ...
The Ship
First impression of the Edge was very positive. It’s a beautiful ship! There is a definite “WOW” factor when looking at the Grand Plaza with its oversized light sculpture that could be programmed for a multi-color light show timed to music. The other major interior public space was Eden at the rear of the ship. During the day it was a relaxing place to read or just enjoy the view ...
We booked this cruise 2 years ago and were very excited as the time approached. Our indefinite veranda room was lovely, except for the orange life boat taking up a large portion of our view. The decor in the room is beautiful and there is plenty of storage. The bathroom large and nicely appointed. The soap and shower dispenser are not good and I would have to bring my own products next time. ...
Overall, the Edge grew on us as our cruise progressed. Ship is beautiful and very different.
Loved the extra space created by the infinite Veranda, but as a balcony, a complete waste. Too small, the window takes too long to wind down and the blind is also too slow. You can also hear when the cabins either side of you are playing with their windows and blinds.
Cabin seemed slightly ...
We wanted to see the new Celebrity Edge. We were disappointed in the "new" balcony design. The balcony area has hard walls and a hard ceiling that goes all the way to a glass wall, the top half which can be lowered halfway. With this design, one does NOT get the effect of being outside. Also if you have friends/family in an adjoining cabin, you can't have a conversation with them.
I thought ...
We are fans of Celebrity and this was our first time on the Silhouette. It is a lovely ship, with a very competent and involved crew.
Our room was clean, and well-maintained by our cabin steward Enrico.
We were with four other couples, and were seated at a table for 10 in the middle of the gorgeous dining room. We had great waiters: Alfi and Robert.
The assistant Maitre D', Olga, was ...
This is our annual escape from Winter in upstate New York.
Empbarkation was smooth & quick. This was our second cruise in Suites . We are hooked, embarkation, Luminae, Michaels Club, and 20 min disembarkation are all worth the extra $$’s to us.
Our first “Suites” experience was on Summit last September. Quite frankly that experience was better than what we experienced on Silhouette. Perhaps ...
Overview
As regular sailors with Celebrity since 2005, we’ve enjoyed our cruises each time including this, our first experience on Edge. Our enjoyment was slightly tempered by concerns that the entertainment, shopping, on-ship activities, hospitality options, may be aimed mainly at a generation younger than ours.
We hadn’t taken a short cruise before and realized that 4 of the 7 days are ...
Highlight of ship is the infinite veranda rooms. Bathrooms are spacious with plenty of storage. Rooms are well laid out. Room has nice open bright feel. Great lighting. Power operated black out shade. Balcony innovation is awesome. Inner doors close flush to wall to become virtually invisible. Outer glass is power operated so that upper glass lowers behind lower glass to make whole room become a ...
We as everyone else was excited to try the new ship. It is a beautiful ship but I hope they read reviews before they go to far with the Apex. We had an infinite veranda. The cabins are more narrow than there other cabins. The infinite veranda is a good idea, however there are design flaws; open the window & the cabin temp reduces to the outside temp, the glass doors are a waste. First they ...
