My wife and i just returned from our 25th cruise. This one was aboard the carnival splendor. Although not all of our cruises have been with carnival, we have noticed so many changes over the years. All of these changes seemed to have eliminated the "class" factor associated with cruising. The biggest change has been the dress code or lack of a dress code. When we started cruising (late 80's), ...
The Carnival Splendor was sold to us as a "party ship"! Two comments:
1. It was definitely NOT a party ship. (We are not spring chickens but the majority of the passengers on board had difficulty keeping up)
2. "Hurry up and wait" We took My Time Dining option. We had to wait 25 minutes on average to get seated and the service was extremely poor. Whist the food was generally good, it ...
This was my first real cruise on a large ship. It was enjoyable, I am glad I went.
What was best:
1) The accommodation were fine, although we had just a medium-priced cabin. The cabin steward Gede was especially pleasant and efficient. He was the only crew member who made an effort to remember our names.
2) The excursions. Although the Carnival-sponsored excursions seemed quite pricey, we ...
Having been on numerous cruises on HAL, Celebrity, and NCL, this was the first time for me on Carnival. I had the opportunity to join some friends who had already booked this cruise, so got a fairly good deal on a spa balcony and my mom joined me! We travel well together and had a nice time on this cruise. I must admit my preferences still lie with the other cruise lines I've been on, but I ...
We were on the 7 day Splendor to Canada/New England from NYC. This was our third time on the ship
Embarkation was very fast. We got to the port about 11:20 and were walking on the ship at 11:45. Self assist disembarkation was also quick. We didn't start leaving until 9:45 am and were off the ship and thru customs by 10:00 am.
We had an inside interior on the Lido. It was a great ...
I've cruised multiple times on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Norwegian cruise lines. This sailing was my wedding cruise, so I traveled this same ship ten months earlier for the repositioning cruise in order to assess if we wanted to advocate for our guests to join us on the post-wedding voyage. Had I not so recently sailed on the exact same ship, I wouldn't have had anything to compare it to and ...
We have never been on a cruise before as I thought we would be bored, I was so wrong. We had a wonderful time on the Carnival Splendour. The cabins are spotless and the staff were indeed splendid.
The entertainment was good and there was always something to do.
However, one very big downside was that the casino allowed smoking and it was horrible - my husband and I enjoyed spending most ...
Hi! I just came back from this 9 day 8 night Bahamas cruise!! I had a fantabulouos time on the splendid splendor!! I enjoyed the 4 sea days and the 24 hour pizza station. At night, when the big screen movie is on, (Lido) you can get FREE popcorn!! Isn't that great or what?!
Bahamas was awesome as I joined the tour which was only $30/person (very cheap)! I do have a suggestion for you if you go ...
A small group of five was extremely disappointed with Carnival. The adage that you get what you pay for seems to be correct in our experience. We have traveled with RC, HA, and our favorite Norwegian. This cruise was our eighth.
For ease of review I will differentiate our concerns:
1- Infection control. No encouragement with the hand sanitizers. Especially as you enter the buffet area. ...
Having traveled with Norwegian, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean I can honestly write of my disappointment with Carnival. My disappointment on several fronts was so strong that I will not take this line again. I will explain: When my small group of five first arrived at the pier to register the excitement and anticipation of our eight days of fun and relaxation was joyful. This is where the ...
