Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Carnival Sunshine

This was our first cruise with Carnival so we weren't sure what to expect. Carnival was a blast! We have sailed on other cruise lines but we have never had as many activities as Carnival provided. Even though Carnival Sunshine is an older ship, we found it to be very clean with larger cabins and much space to maneuver 3,000 plus people. We had never stayed in an Aft. cabin before and we ...

only chose this cruise because wife's family booked and invited us to go along. 8 day cruise out of manhattan to San Juan, St thomas, and Grand Turk. Pros, Staff was , for the most part, friendly and attentive . Ship looked great. Clean and in good working order. Cons customer service agents were downright rude. Food was, with a few exceptions, Golden corral quality garbage. ...

Would never cruise on Carnival again.

I would not cruise on Carnival again. I had purchased Faster to the Fun so I will admit that embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly however, these were the only activities on this cruise that did go smoothly. Prior to disembarking we had to do the required safety drill, on other cruise lines they scan your card to ensure you attend and ask you to proceed to your muster station (which is ...

Great Time on Carnival Sunshine, June 30, St. John

Considerations: • We are a family of three in our 30’s with a 3 year old • We didn’t eat in the MDR • We didn’t go to any of the shows or comedy acts, so I can’t comment on the space or crowds • We didn’t spend time by the pool with the exception of some time spent on the Serenity Deck (very nice!) and Dive in Movie nights (great!) Pros: • Very welcoming staff - Carnival ...

Not My Favorite

Just got off of a 4-day cruise from New York to St. Johns. When I got on the ship (it was my first time on Sunshine) I thought how beautiful it looked and how clean – very understated, but nice. Unfortunately, this was not my favorite Carnival cruise. Before I start with my complaints let me say that every person who worked on this cruise was friendly, helpful and personable. The casino staff ...

Probably would have preferred the Destiny over the Sunshine.

I would have liked to give it a 3 (average), but of the nearly 40 cruises we've been on, it was definitely in the bottom 10%, For me, the crowded nature of the ship - a result of Carnival adding cabins and reducing the public space when they remade the Sunshine from the Destiny - was a big part of the problem. The staffing levels also seemed to have been reduced, or at best, stayed the same as ...

Disappointing Experience

This was not my first cruise, however, it was my first and last with Carnival. The only reason we booked this cruise was because we live in NJ and it sailed from Manhattan. The food in the lido buffet was pathetic. Nothing in the buffet was exciting and scared us away few times. It would have been very good if they had a station or two dedicated to world cuisine like Thai, ...

Great weekend getaway

This is a great weekend getaway trip, our first on Carnival. Room steward was great! Food okay and entertainment, well entertaining. A few glitches were with dining. We have The Your Time Dining and in order to use this you needed to wait in line to be told to go to the restaurant where once again you waited in line to get a table, made no sense at all and the line to get your chit that you ...

We saw whales on the way out to sea this cruise, and that should of been an omen. THAR SHE BLOWS, becase this cruise kept on blowing. Well, actually it started before that with our arrival at the teminal when everyone was told, as rhey wete getting in line tthat hey had to make out an immigration form. People started pushing and shoving to get to the one table that held the form forms and only ...
