This was our 12th Carnival cruise. We drove to Charleston the night before the cruise and stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites about 20 minutes from the port. Check in in Charleston was seamless. I prepaid for parking at the port. We booked a grand suite with extended balcony. We got in the building, went straight to priority check in, got our boarding passes stamped and off we go to the ship. ...
We are a family of four and this was our first cruise. We did not have high expectations as we knew coming on that this was an old shop....we chose it because of it being within driving distance from our home. The ship itself isn’t terrible (aside from the tiniest pool I’ve ever seen). Most of the crew really do try hard to make it a pleasant experience.
The food is absolutely horrendous. ...
We boarded on the ship within 20 minutes of parking the car it was truly a breeze. Once we got on at around 1:20 the room were not quite ready so we explored a little bit and went to are room. The location of a interior upper lower on deck 7 aft was amazing. Up the stairs one level was the main dining room and up another was city lights (Promenade) and up one more was the buffet. The Entertainment ...
This ship is a joke. Room had several patched jobs with different colors. Smelled and broken furniture. Women’s dry sauna was registered at 230 degrees wet sauna had no steam (reported it twice) never changed all week Numerous medical emergencies. Rust filled Lido deck, broken down elevators. Entertainment suitable for the gereatrics ward. Save your money because Carnival doesn’t care. Day 2 man ...
So, the Carnival Ecstasy.........heard it called a lot of things:
1. Rust Bucket
2. bad 1970's Porn decor
3. falling apart
4. dirty and smelly
Honestly all those are true, except the smelly part - we have no bad olfactory distress on our cruise.
The Carnival Ecstasy is an old ship. It looks unpleasing and could use a serious makeover. Its true the interior decor looks like a ...
Booked the Ecstasy out of Charleston for a fun getaway with friends. Cost and close port made it an easy choice. Embarkation was fast for anyone with a drop of patience. Ship is old, but well cared for and they work on it constantly. inside cabin was nice and clean. Gladys took great care of us. I enjoyed the food. not sure why it gets so many bad reviews. Dinning room was great Silviu and ...
I have cruised before with carnival a great experience on Fantasy but this cruise on Ecstasy was terrible. The food was disgusting the only thing i could eat was Guys burger joint and ice cream. The ship and my room had a horrible smell like a septic tank. I was not given a bootle to open on the last nighth of the cruise the bar tenders were rude. The stateroom steward was awesome. The ride going ...
Restaurants:
Food was horrible. The Buffet(s) was closed almost every time I went to it (5:15pm, 7:15am, 6pm, normal times) The Guy's burgers were good but the rest sucked. I ate soft ice cream with a fork, got served a warm coke with 4 ice cubes, I had a flat iron steak that was as tough and tasted like a boot sole, the service was atrocious and I waited well over an hour in the dinning room ...
This cruise was booked last minute. We decided to sail out of Charleston SC for the first time. Usually sail out of Baltimore or one of the Florida ports but decided to try Charleston as it was only a 2 hour drive from home. Was a little concerned after reading reviews of the port and the ship. Have sailed on this class ship before so we were somewhat familiar. We arrived at the port at our ...
Why the Ecstasy-
We chose to sail on the Ecstasy because it left out of Charleston, which is about a 3-4 hour drive from us and because it allowed all 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids) in one room. So, for just $1600ish before gratuities and excursions, we were able to take a 5-night cruise to the Bahamas in January. It also had a sail date that coincided with some days the kids had off from ...
