Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Carnival Magic

Hubby and I were celebrating our 24th anniversary and my ?? birthday. We thought embarkation went very smoothly, although all the eating spots were crazy busy...as it typical. We weren't able to dock at Costa Maya, our first port, which was disappointing. The winds were just too strong for that little dock. What this meant though, is 2 days at sea to start the cruise. There ...

Overall, our trip was average. Great weather, some decent ports, and had a good time mostly. Let me start with the positive - we found the platinum diningroom staff to be friendly and helpful. Our waiter learned our names on Day 1 and made us feel very welcomed each night. Our favorite was our drink server, who made himself known by a simple "yoohoo" shoutout. On the last day, he went to each ...

Drove down to Port Canaveral from New York during February break. Tenth cruise, nine on Carnival, one on Royal Caribbean. We are a family of four and were traveling with four other families. All first time Cruisers. Chose the Magic because of the price and all of the activities available on board. Embarkation - Getting on the ship was a smooth process, within 15 minutes our entire group was ...

Great cruise, fun ship

We went on this cruise to celebrate my husband's birthday. Carnival sent a small birthday cake to the cabin to celebrate. It was great, just the right size. The itinerary is a good one, we enjoyed the ports even though we've been to those ports before. Mahogany Bay is enjoyable just to walk around the shops and there is easy access to the beach. We did a Carnival shore excursion in Belize. We ...

For my first ship, not bad! Not great either.

I just took a flyer on this cruise as it was my first, and the price was good. I'm glad I did, and I've already booked two more cruises elsewhere. Freedom was very nice, clean, and easy to get around. Food was very good for the most part. I wasn't thrilled with the Sun King steak House, but I'm a steak snob. They must use USDA Choice instead of Prime meat. There is a difference. Put it this ...

Older Boat but still a great time

This was my first cruise, the boat is an older boat, but if this ship was any bigger I would have been lost for longer! I walked so much just trying to find everything. The staff is VERY friendly and they remember your name, which made me feel very welcomed. They will go above and beyond for you if you go above and beyond for them. Their gratuities that are added to the bill don't just go to them ...

Ship was under construction the entire week!!

We stayed in Miami for a few days before boarding the ship and really enjoyed the Wynwood area. The embarkation was very smooth. However, once we boarded we saw construction crews and discovered that they were going to be working on the boat the entire week we were on it. Because of the construction, there was no water slide and the pool the slide should have fed into was not accessible. ...

Service staff cut by at least a third; poor/slow service; terrible coordination

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Carnival Magic

We have been Carnival fans for quite some time... telling everyone who asks that Carnival is the way to go. In the past, we had GREAT service on Carnival. Which is why we were so incredibly disappointed that Carnival is cutting staffing by working on some sort of corporate algorithm of maximizing profits while minimizing staffing/service. The ship itself is beautiful. But it was so incredibly ...

Sail date fit my schedule. The Bottomless Bubbles needs some revamping. My 10 year old son had to go to the bar just for a soda. Really not happy about that. Not worth the $225.00 for the family of 5. I would have been better off to just purchase the drinks as we went. If you are a juice or wate /coffee drinker don't purchase the soda package you will be much happier. Several times the ice maker ...

First Cruise

Had a wonderful cruise. All cruise staff from Mohamed who kept my room clean (and folded towels different daily), the bus men/women, guest relations staff, and Vladimir the buffet floor supervisor ( easy to tell all his employees loved him) were very helpful and showed that they appreciated you being there. I walked every floor while at sea and everyone of the staff members greeted me with a "Good ...
