I chose this cruise because of the dates and the itinerary. This was my first time with the new embarkation process. We basically went through security then walked to the ship only having our passes scanned along the way. Once on the ship we were able to get food till our room was ready. We then picked up our keys from the mailbox in front of our door.

We were looking for an anniversary cruise for the end of December. This 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progreso fit our schedules and was a welcome break from the cold. We had a balcony cabin and the only complaint was dirty carpet. Our steward Mohammed took car of that quickly.

We booked this cruise 2 years ago with 36 friends and family members coming along with us. I am a gold member for Carnival and this was my 5th cruise with Carnival and definitely will be my last cruise. This was our third cruise with Carnival. Normally, we are a loyal Royal Caribbean customer, but this cruise was organized by a friend and it was over New Year's Eve so thought it would be fun.
Unfortunately, this was anything but a "Funship." The bar staff with the exception of two people were very unfriendly. Almost made you feel like it was an imposition to ask for a drink.

We chose the cruise for the itinerary. The ship itself is getting dated and is in dire need of an update. Not as clean as I would have liked - had to ask to have beds cleaned, found old bread underneath my bed. Cabin really worn out. Holes in curtains, lampshades. Two ports with tenders. We chose this for a family vacation, and unfortunately did not have a good experience. When we arrived our cabin that was "ready" had a pile of dirty sheets on the sofa, the sheets on the bed were stained, and the crib we arranged to be in the cabin was collapsed on the side of the wall. So we used Faster To The Fun (FTTF) for the first time to sail on the Valor, loved it. The only issue experienced with it, is we did not get our luggage early as it states we would. Having cruised over 20 times with multiple companies and ships, we chose the Freedom because of its departure from Galveston and our large family could drive versus expensive airfares to Miami … unquestionably, the Carnival Freedom was the absolutely worst ship we have ever experienced.
